What'd you do in '07/'08 that you'd like to do again?

Was there a specific resort or trail you'd like to ski again? A certain clinic you want to repeat? Or is there something you'd definitely care NOT to do again?

I skied with a bunch of Divas at Solitude, and I'd love to have that opportunity again (oh wait, I will this coming season the first week of March, at the Diva Summit!). And I'd love to get back to Utah again.

What about you?

I want to do most of it over again. There were a few days I'd like to forget - either not feeling well or weather. I've already paid for next years season pass. There is a down payment on the condo rent and I've been asked to teach at both the local hill weeknights and Tremblant during the holidays. But next year I've got some plans - Diva summit in Summit County. Gotta book that flight soon eh!

Would love to play in the Hanging Valley of Snowmass again!:ski2:

Improve my bumps and powder skiing. Ski with my dad. Meet lots of fabulous Divas and ski with ones that I've already met. :ski2:

- Lots of skiing day: love to repeat. Whether that's doable or not is an entirely different matter. :(
- 4 trips out west: love to repeat, unlikely to happen. But shooting for more than my "usual" one trip
- skiing overseas: Love to repeat, had to juggle with other trips though
- Ski Plattekill: Will do more. Similar with Belleyre, midweek only though
- Mad River Glen!
- Banff/Lake Lousie: Oh, just say I'm dreaming...
- Skiing with bears and divas: YEAH (but not in Colorado, I'm having a over-saturation of Summit county)!!!

This is not strictly downhill but still skiing. I would love to go x-c ski in the 100 mile wilderness of Maine again.

We also need a seperate thread for what we don't want to repeat next season (cracked ribs, near misses sliding into a red light on a snowy day, etc)

  1. I switched from shorties to alpine in 07/08, so more/all Alpine skiing in 08/09. :ski2:
  2. Try more little jumps... and I'm talking little here. "Can I get some air off that 3" burm?" type stuff.:ski3:
  3. If funds allow, it might be nice to take another lesson next year.
Any suggestions on the timing of a lesson within the season? I was thinking it would be good to ski a day or two first, to brush the dust off and practice what we learned last year and then take the lesson to build on that. But, I've also heard some say they like to take a lesson the very first day out. Thoughts?

The Biggest thing for me, Getting Mr SnowHot to take a vacation of any kind, but specifically ski vacation(s).
It was one of my best ski seasons EVER, in part because he ventured out and got away from work a little.
:yahoo:

IMO its awesome to take a lesson first thing in the year, in general because you are fresh and can get a tune up before getting some old habits back in your form.
The draw back is the limit of bumps and deep snow to play in during the lessons.

My wish list is exactly the same as yours! Spooky.
I will have the opportunity to ski powder this season and already have powder skis. Let's see how I do.

I last skied with my Dad in my second ski season about 20 years ago and I was tail end Charlie, they could all ski well and I was the novice being dragged all over the mountain with helpful but useless advice being flung at me from every family member. My Dad is now mid seventies and just emailed me to find out how many people can fit into my house, his regular ski trip is not being organised next year (usually about 40 people, half police, half priests!). I know my skill level has improved and I'd like to spend some time with my dad.

I can't wait for the Diva summit, and I'm looking forward to skiing with many Divas local and visitors all season.

Whistler!!!!!!:dance::dance::dance:
I sooooooooo, want to go there!

Me too, on all accounts!
Doing a bump camp with Bumpfreaq at MJ. Plus a couple front range visits as well as an ESA or two.

Ski the backside of Sugarloaf with Tinker and Crystel!

T

Ummm, can I come too? It's my home mountain!

What would I repeat next season? Several weeks of incomparable spring skiing, and a New England ski day in MAY. It rocked. Best spring ever here.

What would I like to do again this coming winter? Buy two new sets of skis and two new ski jackets! Er, if I had the budget, which I probably won't.

What would I like to do again, more realistically: I skied three new areas, and would like to add some more new ones. I managed one diva get-together, and would like to do some more.

What I did two winters ago that I'd like to do again: date a guy who also happens to be an avid skier! Sigh...

I didn't know that Sugarloaf had a backside.
Top of Loaf is a rocky, wind-swept cone configuration. When the wind doesn't take it all away, the back snowfields are open for business. Personally, I think it's somewhat overrated. Is touted to be the only above-timberline skiing in the east, but that's not altogether accurate. It's mostly sparse scrub pine at that elevation, and due to rocks beneath, tough growing. Timberline is at/around 4500 at this latitude. However, gauge for yourself whether the hike (required) is really worth it, pic below. Hmmm, NOT much snow....(photo taken way late in season, though, 4/19)
