I can't disagree, but I enjoyed it! Escapism.
Yes, Bridgerton is fluff - but such fun fluff! A new take on history – and some very strong women. And re costumes, I think I read no one wore the same dress twice. Thinking about it, I'm not so sure I would class it as "silly."
I agree -- this was a fascinating story about something I had never learned about! It also put into perspective certain historical figures such as Benedict Arnold.Has anyone mentioned Turn: Washington's Spies? It's a historical drama based on a real life scenario, the Culper spy ring. I watched it last year and really enjoyed it.
Oooh - I loved the documentary Lenox Hill on Netflix! The first episode left me cold, but I returned to it months later, and once I finished, I loved all the people I "met." The last episode was at the beginning of the pandemic, and I would guess the filmmakers just had to get out of the way or stop using precious N-95s. But what an amazing series! What incredible, compassionate doctors!
Oooh, I like your thoughtful take on an otherwise light series - I can totally see that. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Bridgerton with my 20 year old daughter - we decided it was very much like a Downton Abbey / Gossip Girl mind meld!Watching the women in Bridgerton use their “powerless power,” make their wishes known indirectly, and use their ostensible helplessness to influence the men in their lives continues to teach us about ourselves, where we came from, and where we are going.
