What ski resorts have you mountain biked?

I know we've done the list of resorts you've skied at - what ski resorts have you mountain biked? (I'm talking about lift served riding, but XC riding in the resort boundary should count too...)

Mine is: (with a bold for places I've biked, but never skied...)

Sundance
Brianhead
Wolf Mountain

Park City
Deer Valley
The Canyons
Snowbasin
Durango
Snowmass
Mammoth
Pomerelle
Whistler

Lots of mountain I biked and not skied. I don't know why... (in order of preference)

Whistler!
Mammoth
NorthStar-at-Tahoe
Jiminy Peak
Platterkill
Bromont (Canada)
Bolton Valley

Mountains I both skied and biked:

Killington
Mountain Creek (will NEVER ski there again, but cool downhill place)Mount Snow
Whiteface
Hunter
Stratton (waste of time for bike)

The dichotomy is interesting, huh? I have places like that too, where the biking is AMAZING, but I have no interest in skiing there at all.

But Whistler is great for both, so is Mommonth. At least so I heard, since I've yet to ski either.

Sometime, a mountain is not so good for skiing so they better make it up during the summer with biking, not?

Others are good ski hills so summer biking is nothing more than an afterthought (Stratton).

Yep. Snowbird technically offers biking -but they just let you take a bike on the tram and ride the access roads down. I'm not going to bother with that.

I haven't skied Whistler or Mammoth either. I'd like to one day, but honestly, when I spend the money to go there - I think it will always be in the summer. The biking is so good, I'd rather ski at places that are closer/cheaper and travel for the biking since it's so amazing in comparison (Whistler in particular) to everywhere else!

Good grief, and I forgot to put Big Sky on the list and that's where we were this weekend. The biking there is AMAZING. Seriously the best place in the US, I think. Though there was very little for intermediates.

That's because you live in a Place with great skiing!

Me, on the other hand, having lived in California and riden some of those fantastic trails. (actually, the best and most beautiful trails in California aren't lift assisted, a shame, but many of them can be riden year round!) I naturally am not too keen on flying to bike any other places. I'd rather save my money for ski trips instead!

Hey, it's still a list! You have plenty of summers ahead to keep expanding it...

I've heard Mt. Hood is really fun too.... that's on the list for one of these summers!

We're headed out to Downieville on Friday - I can't wait! But we've been really torn - we're meeting friends out there but they just said hey, if we arrive early we should drive to Tahoe and ride there too... it's just rough to fit in a 3 day weekend. I think we're going to stick to Downieville for this trip. But wow do all those trails sound good!

I agree though - there are a lot of trails that aren't lift served but are amazing too. Seems almost silly to have a list of places to ride without Moab on it, you know?? And back in the day when they did have lift served riding, we rode there, but it technically isn't a ski resort, so I didn't list it. I miss riding Moab Rim on the DH bike though!

mine is smaller than yours!
Crystal Mountain doesn't have lift served biking, but they have a trail system surrounding it, and I've mt biked on that a few times.

My goal was to go to lift served biking at Boyne Mt this year but never made it up there. They stopped after Labor day so I'll have to wait until next year.

I'd say do Downievill. It's wild and no crowd. Once the shuttle left (I'm assuming you're taking the shuttle, it's a hell of a climb), you and your bike are alone in the forest! Trail marking isn't the clearest though, especially the x-c trails which is the most fun. When I rode there, I was with people who knows, or I'd be a bit worry about getting lost. Didn't meet any other soul the whole day. And that's for every day!

Save Tahoe for another trip, or I should say trips (pural). There're so many trails there you can't hope to cover all of them on a single weekend! Do a google on Tahoe Rim trail. It's mostly build by hikers though bikes are allowed in more than half of them. It's un-real what California has for mountain biking.

Nice! Yeah, we're definitely planning to shuttle. It should be really fun! We're there with a group of 19 riders, most of them are from CA and ride there a bunch so hopefully we'll be all set with route-finding. Can't wait!!

I know this thread is old, but what the heck. I watched "Between the Tape" (a DH bike movie) the other night and it made me excited for riding season again even though I'm in love with all the snow right now!

So...my list:

Park City UT
Whistler
Big Bear, CA
Schweitzer Mt, Idaho
Mammoth, CA
Durango Mtn Resort
Willingen Germany
something in Southern France - hahahah I don't remember where I was!

Almost everything in Chamonix, France
Ski Bowl, Montana
Snowshoe, West Virginia
Mt Hood, Oregon
Willamette Pass, Oregon
Northstar, Tahoe
Winter Park, CO

Crestted Butte, CO

I'm a Downhill Bike racer (recently reformed from XC) but have mostly done just the NORBA and North American World Cup stops:

KEYSTONE CO (Was the local playground in 2006/2007!)
Snowmass CO
Crusty Butt, CO
Telluride, CO
Durango, CO
Winter Park, CO
Sol Vista, CO
Angel Fire, NM
Big Bear CA
Park City, UT
Brian Head, UT
Mt. Snow VT
Snowshoe WV
Plattekill NY

As I just moved from CO to Western CT, I CAN'T WAIT  for
DIABLO to open in a month! Oh and to try all of the East Coast Venues :becky: I much prefer some good technichal muddy roots to the often dust-bowl conditions of the western mountains. Let the DH race season begin!!!!!

This is something I should look into this summer. Last summer I was out because of breaking my foot. The summer before was my first mountain biking. Maybe this year I can go somewhere lift serviced? I know there was talk at one point about the local ski hill doing this, but they decided not to. Maybe too much liability?

Ouch on breaking your foot! Sorry to hear about that but you rock for wanting to do more mountain biking regardless!!!

On Liability, there isn't too much of an issue with that because they will just make you sign 5 different forms (unlike skiing which I find wierd because more people get seriously injured skiing than biking); I think the real issue is that most places just dont have the funds to really do the trail building and to run lifts during the summer, so that's why not too many hills stay open and maintain biking trails....

I see you are in CT (so am I); what kind of bike do you have and what part of the state are you in? I am new to CT and just exploring new trails and found a bunch of easy to fairly advanced trail networks at Huntington state park, near Bethel and there was not too much painful climbing. It sounds like you are fairly new to MTBing? I think cross country trail riding is a good way to gain skills (even for serious downhillers) esp since the lift serviced stuff often has mostly the equivilant of double black diamond trails (to skiing)

But hey if you have a big bike with over 6" of travel and some good body armour, you should totally come out to Diablo! It's the real deal and there are usually "go arounds" on the jumps and drops so a double black can become a blue pretty easily without having to pedal up the hill!

I have an itty bitty list too.

XC:
Boyne Mountain
Crystal Mountain
Cannonsburg Ski Area
Hanson Hills
Marquette Mountain

Lift Served:
Boyne Highlands - Yee Haw!! I was scared sh*tless a bunch of times and walked more stuff than I ever had in my life. Still, had an awesome time. Not having to ride up just ROCKS!!!

Lift Served places I'm planning to hit this summer (after getting a full set of pads!):
Marquette Mountain
Hickory Hills
Boyne Highlands again!

I'd planned on hitting Ray's Mountain Bike Park in Cleveland OH to work on some skills (like jumping  ) this winter, but skiing always seems to get in the way of stuff like that.

I have a quiver of bikes: road, xc, bmx, freeride, and downhill. Downhill is the closest thing to skiing in the dead of the summer: carved turns, jumps, drops, trees, and the occasional yard sale! Body armor is a good idea. Unlike snow, the rocks will leave a mark. My list includes - Vail, Winter Park, Keystone, Steamboat, and the chairlift at Moab.

You need to check out Jiminy Peak too!

Speaking of which, does anyone know the date of this year's Pedro's Fest? Perhaps we can have a diva meet there?
