Apparently Solitude and Snowbasin have had to deal with people totally unwilling to adhere to mask usage. Meaning to the point of having to forcibly remove someone from the property. Can't tell from the article whether the issues were indoors or outdoors. Have read of an incident in the northeast where someone refused to wear a mask indoors and was ultimately escorted off the resort by police.
My sense is that there are GMs everywhere are working with the media to make it clear before the holiday weekend that mask usage is critical and they will not tolerate ugliness to their staff. Fox 13 checked with a few other resorts in Utah for the article.

Utah ski resorts ask for continued mask compliance from visitors

Solitude Mountain Resort put out social media messaging showing support for their employees over the weekend regarding mask compliance.
“Solitude does not tolerate guests who are disrespectful or combative toward our staff,” a statement read. “It has been apparent that we need to remind some people in our community to treat our staff with respect and kindness.”
Mayhew says it’s not a specific incident or the frequency of incidents that prompted the statement but purely wanting to support her staff.
“Most people are great, but we got a few that are a real challenge,” said Mayhew. “We have had to remove a few people from our property who weren’t in a position to comply with our rules.”
. . .
Ratchford [GM Snowbasin] says that some people came to the resort simply to challenge the mask mandate with no interest of wanting to get on the slopes. A few people have had to be removed from the property.
“We have a policy up here and we’ve had to do some additional conflict resolution training with our employees and for the Snowbasin brand. We’re nice, nice, nice; patient, patient, patient and then we stop,” said Ratchford. “Those are jarring conversations because sometimes being reasonable and having a logical conversation just, you’re not able to have that.”
Both Mayhew and Ratchford want to emphasize that issues with masks are few and far between, but they’ve still happened. They want to remind everyone that employees are following the COVID-19 protocols in place.

No crazier than renting skis and heading out on the slopes with no hat, no gloves, no ski pants, and no lesson. That happens all the time in the southeast.Wow, so crazy to me that one would just be unwilling to wear a mask to do a recreational activity..

Mask usage at the ski areas/resorts in NC/VA/WV has apparently been decent but certainly not 100%. Just as there are still a few people who go into Sheetz (VA, NC, PA) unmasked in spite of lots of signs and state-wide mask mandates.
I’m getting increasingly disgusted with compliance here. People don’t care, and either Vail Resorts isn’t giving their staff backing/training/support to be more forceful about compliance, or.... I don’t know. At this point I would say that maybe 50% of people are complying with mask mandates in lift lines, meaning their mouths AND NOSES are covered. So many uncovered noses....
And don’t get me started on the liftie yesterday who forced us onto a gondola with another unrelated couple. Which is against Vail’s explicit, written guidance on their website.
Tremblant is using employees that are not working their usual job as mask police. For example I recognized a ski instructor that was wearing the snow school jacket under the "blue" vest. These "mask police" are at every lift, every building, even at the top of the Cabriolet. You can't get near the gondola without encountering about 4 people in the blue vests.
As per their website...it's up to the guests to adhere, or the place could close.
I actually saw a liftie stop the lift, walk up to a chair that was not quite yet out of his reach, and demand this guy hand him his pass for non-mask compliance. He then proceeded to walk up to the long line so that everyone could see him, and yelled, “you see this? That’s what I’ll do to your pass if you don’t wear your mask!” And he clipped the guy’s pass. Compliance was nearly 100% for the rest of the day, at least in that line. This was in Sipapu, a tiny resort in Northern NM a few weeks ago. They should make a public ceremony of cutting up these peoples' passes, and put the video on the website -- sort of like "public caning", LOL. Perhaps public humiliation would increase peer pressure...
