What Does A Diva Collect??????

So, besides Ski Gear.....

Do you have a collection of anything else?

I have a collection of PostCards from Vail....
My first are from "Pando" aka "Camp Hale" that are typed on and written from a young man to his sister. He was training for the 10th Mountain Division, and the postcard is postmarked "1943, Pando". Vail wasn't founded until 1962! Cool!

My collection goes from that date all the way to the present, and it includes over 300 postcards!

Do you collect anything?

Non ski related, no.

Ski related, I have mugs from every ski area (well, almost) I've visited. And I use them, too, so I can enjoy good memories while I sip my tea!

I've always had a thing for pottery, and especially functional pottery... mainly mugs & ashtrays <don't ask>. It's their unique style that I like and particularly ones with vibrant glazes or swirling patterns <ashtrays can be used for a variety of things, too!>

Oddly enough, when I started dating dbf 4 years ago, I soon learned that his father is a potter... how convenient! He always happens to send him coffee mugs and unique bowls for his bd and holiday... I LOVE IT! :yahoo:

Stickers.

I have been addicted to stickers since I was 6. As an adult, this addiction manifests itself on my Nalgene bottles (and now SkiTube) with various advertisements for ski areas, National Parks, beer companies, bars, outdoors outfitters, TheSkiDiva.com, and other random slogans that amuse me, like "Boyfriend Challenged," "Social Butterfly," and "Treehugging Dirt Worshipper."

Vintage Royal Albert china. And yes, I do use it. My afternoon tea parties are legendary.

For awhile, as a nod to being a new Maine resident, I collected all things loon-related. However, space put a stop to that. I inherited my mom's quite magnificent blown glass paperweight collection, a lot of it Murano/Italy, complete with lighted cabinet. Lovely, but I'm trying hard NOT to get into the collector habit (at least outside of ski quiver :becky:)(she said as she tracks her skis on UPS website....)

I collect postcards mailed to me from around the world. I get them from friends, clients, and e-friends. I've been doing this for about 15 years. It takes up very little space, yet it's really cool. Some of the more cool ones are Bhutan, and Everest Base Camp. The local library actually did a display on it.

Rocks. Plain old rocks. All sizes, whatever I can carry. I have them from all over the place. I keep them all over the place, special ones and really cool ones inside, lots outside in the flowerbed, I even have a pile by my front door that some kids painted pictures on for me. I managed also to build my home on the rockiest lot in the world. I am very rich in rocks.

I have a small collection of Polar Bear figurines.

That's funny! I used to collect boxes... decorative boxes, and soo many other things, then I noticed I was collecting more dust then anything! Clutter begone!

Ooooooh, pretty!

I like china too. I guess I'm collecting all the accessories from my Lenox pattern, but I never thought about it that way. It's a current pattern and they keep coming out with more and more accessories.

OH, my DH geologist would love you! I make him take his rocks into his office or lab. We have some in my gardens, but hardly any in the house.

I used to have a collection of climbing holds, because I had a bouldering wall in my basement and would change the holds around to keep things interesting. Sold those when the wall came down. But I do have a decent collection of climbing cams, hexes, and nuts. Also, carved wood animals that I bought from street vendors in South Africa. Many of them are warthogs. I have an affinity for warthogs. Don't ask me why; I don't know!

Other than that, I try not to collect stuff. I'm trying to simplify!

Do jackets count? I wear them off the mountain too..... :becky:

I collect bottlecaps. Preferably beer ones (so much more interesting!). I've got some from the Kona Brewing Co. (Hawaii) they are beautiful bright blue, and they have different Hawaiian words on the inside. Jones Soda Co.'s are fun as well.

Do bikes count?

Nastar race pins.

I have a "frog garden" in my yard. It started with the coolest set of "leap frogs" that I fell in love with, then everybody started to buy me other frog statues to go with them. I had about 15 different frog stautes of various sizes in the yard until the tree fell on the house this fall. Actually, they all made it through the crashing of the tree, but they didn't make it through all the helpers dragging the tree remains through and across them on the way to the dumpster. :( The worst loss was the very "leap frog" staute that started the whole collection.
