What do you consider your home mountain?

I am sure this has been done before, but I was curious what people consider their home mountain (the place that feels most familiar, the place you ski most often, the place where you have a *routine* and ski without a map)

. . . and maybe more interesting, the home mountains of your past. :eyebrows:

I know people who live in NY and consider Snowmass the home hill because they fly out a few times a winter, instead of the place they drive to in VT or NH or ME a couple times a winter.

What's your *home hill?*
What are your past home hills?
What do you wish were your home hill?

Current:
Vail or Copper
Vail because I have had a CO pass for the past seven seasons, my Dad loves to ski there, and our friends have a place we can use in Minturn.
Copper because DH gets passes there through work, it's easy to get to from here, and it's a fun hill.

Past (in chronological order):
Bittersweet, MI
Okemo, VT
Dartmouth Skiway, NH
Vail, CO
Sunshine Village, AB, Canada
And now we're back to Vail/Copper :D

Dream home hill:
(I have several, b/c I <3 ski towns)
Chamonix or Les Trois Vallees, because I am an insane Francophile
Jackson Hole, because I love Jackson (except in the summer, when it's a total nuthouse)
Sun Valley, because I love, love, love Hailey and Ketchum
Snowmass, because although I find Aspen nutty and crazy, I think Snowmass is as fun as a barrel of monkeys

Copper is currently my home mountain because that is where I coach. In the past I've called Bogus Basin, ID home and Breckenridge, CO (much to my dismay).

The Yellowstone Club in Montana is my first and current home mountain. Dream home mountains would be Jackson Hole, Vail, or Chamonix.

Wowza. Can I come visit?:D

It must be loads of fun to have so much privacy and emptiness at your disposal!

Come on over! Seriously, I have some Bears coming to ski with me there later in the season.

The emptiness is all good except when you get lost in the trees skiing alone. Served me right for going in that area alone.

I'm not a member. I'm just lucky enough to work for a family who are members

Past: Vail
Now: Vail
Dream: Vail

For 39 years (next season it will be 40!) I've been skiing in Colorado....and to me...there's no place like home... Vail! :cheer:

My home mountain is Okemo, VT.

As for dream mountain, I'm open! I think I'd have to ski more of them to figure it out (oh, the agony!). :becky: :ski2:

My home mountain is the Summit at Snoqualmie, WA. It's the one where I work, where I learned to ski, and is a mere 20 minute drive away. Well, okay, I live here during the winter because of the job...

It's the only home mountain I've ever had, because I only started skiing a few years ago. I have dreams of someday moving to the Taos/Santa Fe area. Another choice would be Lake Tahoe.

I'm on my 18th season pass and I'm not planning on stopping, or leaving, any time soon. I love it.

I wish I had such great places to call my "home mountain"! For me, it's been Camelback (PA) throughout my childhood; Mountain Creek (NJ) as of late, and now Blue Mountain (PA) is added to the list as they're all relatively close (2hrs from home).

I'm getting 2 trips to VT in this year, my first time to Killington was in January (and I'm so sad it's so far away!!), and in 2 weeks I'll be visiting Stratton for my first time.

Out west I've only ever skied The Canyons in Park City, and it was pure heaven! If I had to pick a "dream home mtn" it'd be there. I can't wait to get more places to compare it to...

Hopefully the Diva Week 09 will help with that???

Jackson and Targhee--special places to me

Future:

Villa Nevado, Chile (my bucket list)

How does that lifetime pass work, Katy? Sounds interesting. Is it if you buy enough season passes they sell you one that doesn't expire for a special rate?

My home hill is Wilmot Mountain, Wisconsin. Quite a mountain, it's huge

Wow, that's a pretty darn good deal Katy. Glad you joined us here, I was supposed to be in your women's wednesday class a couple weeks ago but had to cancel due to a funeral. I hope to make it up and join you someday.

Sunday River, ME. I've only been back into skiing as a grown-up for 4 seasons now, so that's the only place I know. We were able to take a trip to Northstar at Tahoe last spring for the snowboard Nationals, and I was blown away by the beauty of the region. I am soooooo hoping my children get invites again, as the competition is at Copper this year.
