What are you thankful for (ski related, of course)?

I know we're all thankful for our family, friends, etc. But what are you thankful for that's related to skiing? Thought this would be a good thread, given the upcoming holiday.

Here's my list:

1) TheSkiDiva. com (of course): This forum has really gotten off to a great start. I'm so glad I've been able to (virtually) meet all of you and "talk" to you on-line. Even if we haven't met in person, I feel like I've already made some great friends here. It's so great to have a place where we women skiers can let it all hang out. The discussion, the tone, the personalities here are all first rate. It's been terrific, and I can't wait to actually meet you all.

2) EpicSki. Another forum I love. I've had some great times there, too. A great source for ski talk, gear info, all things skiing. And another source of ski friends (right, Phil? I know you're lurking!).

3) An injury-free ski year (so far, knock on wood): Definitely something to be thankful for. I did, however, recently strain one of my adductor muscles in the gym, and I've been going for massage and taking whirlpool baths to get it better before I start skiing. Still, I haven't had any bad injuries on the slopes. And that's definitely a plus.

4) Mid-week skiing. I'm among one of the lucky ones who does all my skiing mid-week, when the crowds are down. I have a thing about crowds in general, so I'm thankful I have a schedule that allows me to avoid them.

5) Actually, every day on the mountain is something to be thankful for. Beats anything else, far as I can see.

6) A husband who understands my obsession with skiing. Even though he isn't as nuts about it as I am, he's still out there with me, and still supportive of all things skiing. He is absolutely the best!

Now what about you?

I am thankful for that my daughter ,Lola, married a ski nut who would not take no for an answer until the whole family learned to ski.
That one event has led to endless days of family ski and fun time. I am thankful for being able to move to Vermont and have a place where we can have family and friends come to visit and ski with us. I am thankful for great instructors like Terry and Crystel who offer so much encouragement. I am thankful that I remain strong enough and healthy enough to ski whenever I want to. And, I am thankful that my hubby likes to ski with his wife and is happy to tune and wax her skiis.

Thanks, Wendy, for this wonderful site. I am happy to know that this old dog was not too old to learn new tricks.

I am seriously grateful for having parents who loved to ski and who ignored all my complaining.

Mine is more gear related.....Right now I'm thankful for finding these Burton mittens with the little hot pockets on top. It means I can stay out all day skiing and enjoying everything about being outside even if it's freezing cold. Small thing but little things make me happy.

I'm grateful for parents that introduced me to skiing at 14, an ex-boyfriend who reintroduced me at 20 and got me hooked, a hubby who is more ski-crazy than me and doesn't mind waxing 15 pairs of skis 3 pairs of blades and 4 snowboards (and doesn't care what the house looks like :o ), and finally a Mom that comes up every Sunday all winter long to hang out and ski with us - Priceless!! (Of course, the Mother-in-Law isn't so happy since she doesn't see us all winter  ).

This year (after recouperating from knee surgery), I am thankful that I can walk, which means that I can ski! yeah! Because six months ago, I couldn't do either. :D I am also thankful that Wonder-Phil (my nick name for Phil when he's really great - as oppossed to Aw-Phil, when he does something he shouldn't - or Delight-Phil when he does something that pleasantly surprises me) got me skiing. What a great husband I have.

Anybody wanna trade? (just kidding)

I've hesitated to post here because I really feel gushy when I get into this, but I am a person who really knows her cup runneth over.

I have good health, which I know can change in the blink of an eye.

I have a good husband, who is my favorite ski buddy

I have a quiver of skis that is totally unnecessary but ooooohhhhh so much fun.

I have new boots that (when I get to the boot guy) are going to treat my feet well.

I have a seasonal job that affords me a lot of time to ski with my husband.

His name is Terry:
AKA Terry-iffic, unless he's Terry-ble.

Lola, I'll PM about a possible trade;)
