I have Head Monster i.M 70's with Tyrolia LD10 bindings. I've had them for three seasons now, and I've vowed to keep them for three more. They're great on the hard pack (translation: ice) and crud we get in the east. Head ingrained Intellifibers into the core of the ski. As you turn, mechanical energy (vibrations) are converted to electrical energy, which is applied to these fibers to make them progressively stiffer. In a matter of microseconds, the ski senses and adapts to its surroundings, growing stiffer or softer torsionally as conditions and speed warrant. The ski comes with a binding, Tyrolia's LD 10, and an integrated plate system, Super Railflex, which allows the ski to flex unimpeded.

For boots, I have Lange Banshees with custom footbeds. Got them a few years ago at Surefoot, and I have to say they are absolutely terrific. I hope I never have to replace them, because I don't know if I could find another pair I'd like as much.

shockingly, I have a children's snowboard. I'm 5'6" and 120 lbs, at the two upper boundaries for kids' boards, but the price was right (more than $100 lower than the women's boards), and so I wound up with a burton kids' board I absolutely love!

(sure, it has pink birdies on it, but I tell myself it's ironic-hip!)

Do I have to answer this question:o ?

For had pack icy days I ski on Volkl P50's.
For every day Whoo hoo!..........Its the Atomic Metrons. I like the metrons because there is absolutly no vibration at high speeds & they turn on a dime. The thing I don't like about them, is when I'm running on a long flat going between hills, I can't run straight. They want to turn all the time.

I sold my Volkl 5* last year to a friend. Some days I regret that sale because they were so much fun but I ski with my friend and see how much fun he's having on them and his smile makes it all worth while.:D

I hear great things about those Volkl's! The 5*s had a great reputation. And the Attiva AC3s and S5s (women's skis) are getting good reviews for power and speed.

I had a blast on the 5*. I'm sure the S5 is great with the new IPT binding system. I know my husband has the Race Tigers with the IPT binding system, and the channel offers great vibration control.
The AC3(attiva or not) really intrugues me, but I hear that I'm supposed to "cool it" on any more new gear puchases.:o

Hey there Snowhot-just a shot in the dark, but if your ski's are on any kind of edge they will want to turn. Can you do a slow straight run with your skis flat? Does one ski tip on edge? These are some cues that you made need some boot adjustments such as canting. This will enable you to run the ski flat or in a nuetral type position.Just a thought!

First, I am a turning fool, (see thread about the difference between me and my husband) I tend to ski edge to edge.

Second, I have no trouble running slow flat runs on any of the skis but the metrons, the tips get "twitchy" Any other ski in the fleet, no twitch! The metrons are just made to turn.
Boots. That is a perfect point. I got some new boots at the end of the year. Skied on them only a couple times. Great investment. I'm working on a deal for another set of boots that will likely be "the boot" for me.
Terry, you Rock!

I hear ya snowhot-I love to turn em arc to arc such an awesome feeling.I was at a PSIA event last year and discovered that my boot tips to the inside therefore I have trouble riding a flat ski. This is one of the reason I have problems with a drill called pivot slips. You need a really flat skiin order to rotate the skis 180 degrees. Could also leave to edge release problems. I need to get this ironed out before the season opens!!

Sounds like you are loving those Metrons! Arc em and sparc em!!

I'm looking forward to ESA and the expert advice they will have to offer. Not to mention meeting some of my new friends face to face.
As for the Metrons(Ugh this is soooooooo telling of me),
I love them but I got the burnin luvs and some Karmas to play with this coming season.
I am anxious to see if one of the new options will replace the metron as my main ski.

See.........the ski technology has been changing so fast, I tend to be a bit fickle. I do love the Metron, but.........WHAT'S NEW!
I also got a set of Teledaddy's, that I plan to mount some alpine bindings on. That will be an awesome option for an "out west" trip with a 121/99/113, sidecut.

I know alot of girls that luv the burnin luvs- there's just something about having flowers on my skis I just can't do it.I do have a couple of other skis but I always want my Dyn 63's back.

Those Teledaddy's seem cool. I could not imagine have 99 under foot. I would feel like sasquatch!!

I feel the same way about flowers on skis. I mean, what's with that, anyway? I'd just feel silly. Still, everyone seems to love those Burnin' Luvs (sigh).

Just started a thread on fat skis, so if anyone cares to comment...

Well ladies I'm on Rossi Z5's. Found the Z9's too stiff. Our local ski shop only carries 4 lines and this year only 3 - Atomic, Rossi and Salomon. I liked the metron for their stability too. But they were too heavy for trees etc. The Z5's just float in the eastern powder we sometimes get and they carve great. 154 and I'm 5'5. My boots are a few years old, Rossi Saphir's top of the line. I might need to replace them this year, but I'm holding out till we start the season. I hate trying on boots and making that decision.

My hubby felt guilty for getting new skis when his were stolen last year, so he got me the Volkl Attiva AC2's I tried out last season for Mother's Day (everyone in unison, "Awwwwwwww" ). I've had my Salomon Performa 8 boots for awhile and am jonesin to visit a good bootfitter and get some work done. Nothing like spending money! :D

Main ski is the iM72 - love it, complete step change up from my old Crossmax 8s (which we keep for visitors now). Got a deal on some Fast Thangs at the end of last season - which became an even better deal when the supplier messed up the delivery so they arrived after our last day of the season. Can't wait to have a play - should be a laugh

I'm mostly on Volkl 6*'s (161cm) I've had for 2 seasons. I absolutely love them, but may look for another ski to add to my quiver this season. The 6*'s may be my #2 ski. Currently, my #2 Ski is my 2000 or 2001 Rossignol Bandit X's, they were my first REAL pair of shaped skis...other than a lower level Elan that I got cheap to "try" the shaped ski, and they are a little on the long side at 177cm. I'd like to look for something right in the middle as far as length is concerned. I have a few to try out in mind now, it depends on what I can get the best deal on.
