Well, as a pre-trip post . . . Lil and I have been attending the Women's Alpine Adventure (WAA) at Okemo Mountain in Vermont for many, many years. We usually have attended the wonderful weekend of good times, good skiing, good people, and fabulous comraderie during the first weekend in February. Well, tomorrow after work . . . I will be driving to Vermont and looking forward to Friday morning and the start of our wonderful weekend. I am looking forward to seeing Crystel (cnewbound) and Terry (tcarey) as well as Maria Tomaselli, the Director of the program. This year we have brought an entourage of our own, as I believe we have several newbies attending the weekend with us. Hey Lil, how many newbies do we have? Any other Divas going to be at Okemo this weekend? I can't wait! I'm just too darn excited!!! :D

We are bringing 3 newbies to the WAA WAA weekend clinic and 1 who is returning for her second year. We nearly had 2 more. Next year they promised to make it. The large group is part of my promise to some young men who have asked me to take their wives to the clinic so that they could have families that ski together. They have witnessed that our family is now 3 generations that ski together and they want that for their families too. I am more than happy to support them in this worthwhile project. And the WAA WAA experience makes it so easy. The conditions at Okemo should make this year's clinic perfect. Wahoo!!

That phrase would assume that I brought a camera with me, which I did not. :( So I will be sure to hold my hands up, make a square frame around the faces of my friends, and make a clicking noise with my tongue!

I can't wait for the fun to start tomorrow! :D

Oh no!
Another one in the family misspelling words(But/butt) and saying whoo hooo! That certainly looks like a diva with fun and adventure on the mind!:D

Sorry I didn't post a reply yesterday . . but I was having way too much fun! We had a great day on the slopes. The conditions were great, but it did get a little icy in the afternoon. We had a few inches of fresh snow last night . . but I'm not sure we noticed too much as we were laughing, and joking, and carrying on . . . and oh, yes, playing Texas Hold'em poker where I was the last Diva standing. So Now it's time to do it all again! So, ta ta! Off to the slopes we go! :D

So let's see - how was today! Absolutely fantastic! Isn't it great that when you ski on the weekend with an instructor, you don't have to wait in lift line!! :D Totally wicked! In the morning, the conditions were great. It was a bit cold on the chair lift, but once you get off and ski, the wind was not really a factor. We had a tremendous amount of fun skiing on the SouthSide. We skied Stump Jumper, Wild Thing, and Dreamweaver - amoung others. What a truly terrific day with a slew of talented skiing women! What more could a ski diva ask for???

What did you learn? How would you compare it to your ESA experience?

I attended a 2-day WAA clinic last February and loved it. The conditions were so-so, but among other experiences, we went into a baby terrain park and I tried a quarter pipe, took some air, and had about as much fun as I've ever had in my life! :D Also, the food was great. My only regret was that there wasn't more opportunity for socializing in the evenings so I could get to know some of the other women.

I just got home - and boy am I tired, but also still smiling from all the fun. I laughed until I cried, and my skiing has improved! What more could anyone want? Oh, yes . . great company, fabulous instructors, awesome food, and a lovely mountain to ski on. I really enjoyed myself. But for now, I am very tired and looking forward to once again, sleeping in my own bed. Nighty night!

Terry Carey and Crystel Newbound were instructors for my group again this year. What a blast we had. We had 4 inches of fresh stuff on Saturday morning to add to the experience. What did I learn?? I learned that core body strength really improves your skiing. I learned that if you have patience, your turns will carve because the ski will work for you. I learned that the bumps are not as bad as I thought. And I learned that old grandmas can still kick some butt!

There were 6 women in our party. Lola, me and 4 guests. I had talked the program up pretty highly so I was delighted that all of the newbies had a great time, learned lots, and were talking about next year. In fact, 3 of the 4 newbies insisted in showing off their new skills to the guys. The men folk were really impressed by the huge leap in confidence the women took. I just love having more people who will now ski with me. It thrills me that being in my mid 60's there are people who are 20 years younger who don't think I am too old to play with. And the fact that their children want to ski with me too, puts a big smile on my face.

So wa hoo for WAA WAA!
