Volkl Luna vs K2 Tru Luv?

Board2Ski

I have been boarding for 5 years and I'm switching to skiing. I have been looking at the Volkl Attiva Luna and k2 Tru Luv. They are both intermediate ski's. Technically, I will be a "beginner" but I hope with my board experience I will catch on fast. I don't want to buy over my skill level but I don't want to outgrow the ski's after one season. Am I right to go more agressive? I am 5'5" and 150. The shop guys are saying 146. They say it will be easier to learn on but my weight concerns me. Suggestions on ski's and size??? I've heard a lot about the Tru luvs but not sure of the Attiva Luna
I have been boarding Utah and Jackson Hole. Greens, blues and dbl blues(on nice fresh powder days-Cushy:becky: )

I'm so sorry that I dropped the ball on this question. I read it a few days ago then forgot to put my thoughts down.

You are correct that there isn't much info on the Volkl Luna.
Its new this year and I haven't seen it to demo, nor have I seen a review on it.
The K2 luv you listed is a good ski but its also a bit soft.

Remember, a ski doesn't know how tall you are, it knows how much you weigh.
I would not go with something shorter than a 150-160 ish. I would also consider something with a bit more torsional stiffness.
I'm guessing that you're fairly athletically strong, due to your snowboard history.

my recommendation would be to get good boots first and demo all you can.

For a short list of demos, I'd put the two you have on there, but I'd also consider the:
Nordica Victory in a 154
Elan Wave Magic in 152
Blizzard Passion 7 in a 151

Hope this doesn't confuse you more.

Thanks for the info. That is exactly the road I decided to go down. I bought some Nordica Olympia GTS 8 boots this weekend and plan to demo in Jackson Hole in a few weeks. Yippee!!

Seriously, I've demoed a lot of skis over the past few years.
Nordica has some top notch skis in the womens line up!!
My top picks with them are the Firefox and the Conquor, though you may like the Victory better.

The Firefox is an awesome ski, but you have to be technically strong to be happy with it. The conquor is more forgiving, but with 78 under foot its not going to ski quite like the carvers you listed in your original post.
The victory is like the conquor except it is narrower under foot and will initiate turns better.

You're on the right track. Keep sniffing and you'll find the right stick!
