Question: Volkl Blaze 86?

@jthree What length does she normally ski? And what ski was she on last year?

I'd think the 146 would be good for her stats.

@diymom we have been doing season rentals until now. I think last year she had Rossi Experience but I forget the exact width/length- but definitely smaller than my 153 Black Pearls.

Are these a good first ski to purchase? This is my first season skiing at Mammoth, mostly blues, some blue/blacks. Looking at this one and Atomic Maven.

Both are great skis. Can you sign up for a demo at Main Lodge? If they have both of them, you could try them both and see which one you like best.

Not sure I'll go back to Mammoth before the season is over! I live in San Diego so it's a bit of a drive. I was hoping to buy a ski in the off season. I could consider myself advancing beginner to intermediate so looking for a ski that will help me progress and will be able to keep for a few years

If they are the TX grip walk bindings, there is a big difference between the toe height and the heel height - around + 8. What bindings do you have on your Sheeva 10?

Toe & heel height, delta angles...I'm not your girl for this info! I am only a quick googler for the basics like the following. Maybe shoot @SnowHot a question?

- Tyrolia is owned by Head, their bindings might be branded as Head, Fischer, Elan too.

- The TX 10 bindings are described as "The Tyrolia TX 10 GW is the perfect setup for a developing skier on a budget. This Tyrolia binding features a lot of high end tech at a great price." on the Tyrol website. On the SkiEssentials website, they are described as "The Tyrolia TX 10 GW binding is a reliable and lightweight binding that offers big performance and safety at a friendly price.".

- Since they're lightweight, they would likely not have metal in them. But you probably don't need a burly binding with metal, nor a high upper DIN rating.

- Looks like they retail for $175-200 or less, what with end of season sales. You could get just the ski and then shop around for a nicer binding, e.g. Look SPX 11 GW or the 12 GW.

- Here's an article discussing the Look SPX binding vs the Pivot binding. Normally I don't get all technical about bindings, but since your Sheeva binding is a Look, I thought I'd stick this link in. https://www.skitalk.com/ams/7-reasons-the-look-spx-might-be-a-better-option-than-the-look-pivot.289/

I have Look NXII on mine, and they're fine. Not the burliest binding out there, but I haven't had any issues with it.

Oh, and that's an amazing price for the ski!

I tested the Blaze 104 - 2026- yesterday in full on spring conditions. It surprised the h*ll out of me. Super crud buster - slid right through the manky spring snow like it wasn’t even there. Caveat *** the snow was not sticky, just wet and heavy and thick. Conclusion … I have to take that bad boy out again … it is worthy of a second date!

I just grabbed a pair of Blaze 104 for $475 Cdn... couldn't refuse at that price. Wonder if they will displace or complement my Secret 96s. I am hoping they will complement for days where there isn't as much of an ice layer underneath, or my legs are tired.

Would these bindings work? I’m a lightweight and have had squires on them? Currently have look spx10 and attack 11 I think on some skis as well as marker squires

Ski essentials has 2024 Volkl Blaze 86 in 152 for $249, $349 with Tyrolia ? 10 bindings. Anyone know about the bindings?
Ok I am tempted to get these as I’ve heard so many good things! (I never did pick up the shorter pair for my daughter when that was posted last year, but she’s not had time to ski lately. I need to be honest and say I really want these for me lol. )

Is 152 the right size for me? 5’0”, 110 lbs?
