But you bought those LAST year, right? This is 2008. It's a whole new year! :eyebrows:

Someone needs to lock my husband in a closet and repeat something like this to him over and over again until he buys me new skis, lol!

 I am IN LOVE:love:

with the Mantras. I skied from 9-4 yesterday in tons of powder. Skied cliffs, backcountry, steeps, deeps, trees...they took whatever I could throw at them and just powered through any & everything on the mountain. I love them SO much. The 170 was juuuuust right. They're actually a smidge shorter than my Nancys in 169. Just goes to show ya the difference in lengths & brands.

The Mantra was like strapping 2 army tanks to my feet powered by turbo charged jet fuel. They grip, they rocked my world. I love love love these skis. Aura who???

Now...the new dilemma. My man skis the Mantras. He said it would be weird if we had the same skis & that I should wait for next season's to come out. He should just shut up, right?? I

What's up with THAT?????

Yep. Shut up.

From everything that's been said, I'm very intrigued by both the Mantras AND the Auras. I really like my Queen Attivas and I'm not a big fan of super stiff skis (at 5'1" and 110 lbs), so I'm wondering how they'd compare.

I am also dying for a comparison, given my similar size. . .

I bought the Auras at the beginning of the season because I had a very difficult time finding a 163 in February last season. I know several stores and websites are already out of the Auras!

I'm 5'8, 140lbs and I ski a 163. I have skied them in every condition possible and they never disappoint. Today I took them in 15" of new (very heavy) snow and I still could bust through the stuff! I have also taken them into the backcountry and I really like the fact that they are light weight.

I had a fellow diva (who is 5'9 about 140lbs) ski my 163 Auras yesterday and her comment after one run through thigh deep powder was "I'm SOLD!" I know she has been debating getting a 170 or a 163.

On the other hand...I know several people who ski the Mantras and love them! I keep trying to get the guys to switch with me so I can really compare the two skis in similar conditions.

skigrl--- glad you like the Mantras! It's great when it all clicks with the ski.

I, too, would like to see comparisons of the Aura and Mantra. Seems that either way, people just love the ski. I have seen women around here on both skis. Maybe it just depends on which one you try first?!

Everyone IS selling out in the shorter lengths, which may make demoing for me a moot point. Especially 163.

I am assuming 163, even though I am small, as I tend to like powder/crud skis longer, rather than shorter. Or is it stiff enough of a ski that I wouldn't overpower 156cm in tough conditions?

Wasn't it terrific out there?!!!!!

Demo-ing the Auras!

I am leaving for Big Sky in the morning and they are getting hammered with new snow over a 70-100" base. I want to demo the Auras as I've read so much about them, and this will be my first experience demoing a ski that I don't already own, as I haven't had much luck finding skis to demo of the ones I wanted to buy. They actually have the size I want (163) at the demo shop in the village, and am keeping my fingers crossed that they're still in the shop when I get there. Will let you Divas know what I find out! I love Volkls and am curious to see how they perform. They're clearly a very expert ski, so they might be too much for me, but they sound like great crud busters and floaters and that they perform well on the groomed too.... so I'm gonna spend the $ to demo to have a little fun with them.

I love this year's graphic, but why would they make a powder ski so white? Seems like you could lose it pretty easily....

Some places will let you reserve your demo ahead of time.
It's worth a try, anyway.

Enjoy! Let us know if you end up a convert, too. :p

I'm still broken up about not being able to test them in my size.

This weekend = 4 days of skiing at Beaver Creek & Steamboat. I'm demoing the Volkl Bridges all 4 days.

After that...time to spend some moolah!!

Yes, I plan to go to the shop tomorrow and reserve them. Just didn't have time to do more on the phone as I'm trying to finish up here at the office so I can get home and finish packing! Am staying at the airport hotel tonight....

Buy buy buy the Auras! I finally got mine last week and actually didn't have much choice on the sizes... so get 'em while you can! My local ski shop screwed up the Marker bindings they put on, going through the base with a screw! I was very p-o'ed, but took them anyway, the powder was waiting!:eyebrows: Then when I got them home, I realized they hadn't stretched the brakes enough for the wide waist!:mad2: But all in all, I am so glad to have them...they eat pow!

Just two things from me:

1. Jan! Get them to replace those skis for you!
2. I am hyper, super, mega jealous of anyone who has the Auras. I want them really bad.

I love my Auras, and very happy with my choice.

Here in Norway you can see several skiing on them, in Austria I couldn't see anyone but me. Quite surprising. But it could be because of the lack of pow, and everyone else was using their piste skis.
