I have been seriously considering it! I really would like to go.

...and my $0.02 worth...our healthcare & education systems are amongst the best in the world, but they'll never be perfect. So what your saying is that Canada should never host the Olympics and that's a pretty sad thought.

...and sadly, our (USA) healthcare and education are among the WORST! Maybe WE should host the Olympics......AGAIN!!!!!!!??!!!:D

it's not that i'm against the olympics . . .

i think it depends on the situation and place . . .

for example, i think the olympics hosted in calgary AB in the 80's did AMAZING things for the city of calgary . . .

but it's kind of a different situation in vancouver (not to mention ALOT of vancouver and bc residents boycotting/against the idea) . . .

i just feel that it's not good timing for bc right now and the resources (ie: money) could be put to better use . . .

ps sorry for getting all political on you girls (me: :blah: )!
i hope you can forgive me!!!

happy skiing and happy christmas holidays!!!
have a safe and super-duper fun holiday!

Count all the cities that hosted the past Olympics.

I somehow recall most of them end up being better off as a result. (not all, but most). Vancouver is a nice little secret of the Canadians. The Olympics will put it on the world map.

In the long run, it'll be better for Vancouver. But I understand the long time residents might not particularly welcome the crowd and the rapid expansion that comes with it in the immediate term.

Whether you like it or not, a lot of us will kill to move there! (And some actually do, driving up the cost of living in the process!).
