Unisex Salomon X-Wing Tornado

Anyone skied these (08) model? Is it the same as the women's version, the Origins? Has the same geometry. I demoed the Ti Tornado in a longer length than I wanted and still liked them. Have a chance to buy a demo pair in my length.

Feedback appreciated.

Never skied the Origins. So can't compare.

But I rented a pair of Tornado and liked it. It was an 07 model though.

The rep told us that the Origin was the women's version of the of the X-wing 10 last year. But they has since added the Opal, so not sure about this year. I suspect that the Ti is stiffer than the Origins.

I've been told that the X-Wing Tornado is basically the same as the Origins (07-08). Only difference is the Origins bindings are mounted more forward for women, and of course the design difference. I have the Origins and LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I got them late spring last season and didn't get to use them all that much then, but so far this season I've been out on them 11 days and I'm hooked--they are fabulous. Incredibly stable, turn on a dime when I want them to, great for big sweeping turns, they plow thru heavy stuff like it's not there, wonderful on fast straight runs, great in powder, and they hold well on hard icy stuff. I can't say enough good about them! I don't quite know what happened to them this year....are they the Opal now perhaps? Although certain things about the Opal seem a bit different. I also read that the 06-07 Origins were somewhat different from the 07-08 although they look similar. Skipress reviews rated the 07-08 much better for a variety of design change reasons. Anyhow, Origins or X-wing, it's a great ski. I'm 5'7", about 150 lbs, and I got the 162's, which turned out to be a good length for me in this ski.
