Type of ads I keep seeing

Robyn

Now the ads are telling me that our very own Robyn is a popstar. I must be out of the loop

link.
Now, that is FABULOUS! Not that I've ever wanted to be a pop star but hey, I'm famous! :D Thanks for pointing it out Num as I would never have seen it.:laugh::laugh:

Interesting --- try jumping around on the forum randomly and find some key words -- you'll find that the ad matches pretty closely to at least one thread key word. I did this yesterday.

I wondered if we triggered PugShots by talking to/about Lola and Phil.

Hey, that's pretty funny!:ROTF: If that's what triggered that ad, what triggered the others?

BTW, I didn't see anything "off" or "smarmy"....right now I just saw the ad for those customizable skis. Or I'll usually see a Toyota ad. No online dating or anything like that.

Just thought I'd put in my two cents here about the ads......

First, let me explain why they're there at all. As you can imagine, there are certain expenses that go along with running the site -- the server, the software, making upgrades, etc. Believe me, I'm not complaining; I love it and for me, that's enough. But the ads are there to help offset some of the outflow. I'm sure you understand.

Second, I really do try to get rid of any ads that people find either offensive or annoying. So if there are any that really bother you, let me know and I'll register it with Adsense, my ad supplier. It doesn't always work, but we can try.

In the the future, I'm hoping to get some site specific advertisers -- companies that make gear, perhaps, or some resorts -- which would would be far more interesting, informative, and maybe even fun.

*oops, just looked at the beginning of this thread and saw I made a post that said almost the same thing. Still, I think it bears repeating.

I don't mind the ads at all, they're kind of funny. (current one for Pug spot, pug dogs) Anyway, if it helps cut costs, keep using them.

^^^ What she said, no problem for me.
Advertising = The American Way
I actually did click through the link to the customized top sheet skis, was too curious not to. Whatever pays the bills, as long as the forum doesn't have to go the major-sports-arena-named-for-advertiser route!!

I always seem to get meet the local runners, although I am now getting an offer of a free personal horoscope. Last night I got a local (NZ) one for a brilliant local boys clothing company - next time I see it I'll click on it if it generates revenue for the ski diva. I don't mind the ads - to me they are a part of the internet and every so often they are useful or amusing.

I think they are kind of funny. They are even better knowing they can be influenced. The weirdo ads haven't been rolling as much. Or, now that we know where they come from, it is much less annoying.
