One in Israel, and one at Liberty University in Lynchburg, WV (110 ft vertical! This will be the first in the U.S. surfaced with Snowflex, a synthetic material designed to simulate snow).

Here's a whole list of these places.

There are a lot more of them than I thought!

Anyone ski one?

I have skiied at the Snowdome in Staffordshire. The snow was impressively good. However, the slope was narrow, short, and crowded, it was an hour and a half drive away and cost $50 per person per hour (steep eh! Maybe the UK has the most expensive lift passes in the world). So I only went once.

But intrigued by your links I took a look and they have just opened a new one right near my parents house, this is what they say......

We’re proud to say we’re home to the UK’s longest, and the world’s widest, real snow indoor ski slope (180 metres long and 100 metres wide at the bottom). In fact, you might find that you prefer it to the real thing – after all, it simply offers perfect conditions, no rocks, no slush and no obstructions – all year round.

I'll be going back to the UK in September to renew my visa, should I pack my ski boots and gear just so I can get an early start to the ski season??? :noidea:

No wait - I can rent. :yahoo: Ski season starts in six weeks :becky:

(It does count doesn't it? I mean I'll probably only get 3 turns in, and technically they have an all year round season so it's not the start of the next ...)

P.S. You might prefer it to the real thing? Huh, their tongue is so firmly in their cheek ............... :p
