Remind me when your trip is, @Jenny? And what's the rough itinerary? Italy was one of the first places I went in Europe (I haven't been to that many more since, really... ) and we had a really great time. Very delicious trip.

@RachelV— Mid September. We have 9 nights in Rome, 2 in Florence, and 2 in Naples. This trip is city heavy, but at least two of the Rome days involve trips out of the city.

We’ll see the biggies - Colosseum, Forum, Vatican - plus some other museums, aqueducts, catacombs, etc. Florence is for Michelangelo’s David and Pisa. Naples is for Pompeii and Herculaneum.

Definitely be aware of pickpockets. Especially, someplace as crowded as Pisa. Both DH and I carried sling bags and both of our bags were opened when we were walking around Pisa. Luckily, neither of us had any valuables in them.

It’s been years since we did any trip except a ski trip. Gotta say, I don’t like the feeling that I’m going to be vulnerable to so much that I’m not accustomed to - big city crowds, pickpockets, etc. Makes me feel like the small town girl that I am, lol.
