TR: The Tour de Taste, a "pedaling picnic!"

Today I had the pleasure of participating in the Tour de Taste, a "pedaling picnic" that's a fundraiser for the Upper Valley Trails Alliance, a coalition of trail and land protection organizations for the Upper Connecticut River Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire. Mr. Ski Diva, Quiver Queen, and I rode a 23 mile loop through some gorgeous countryside along the Connecticut River in both VT and NH, stopping to sample food from local producers at designated stops along the way. That's my idea of a great ride!

Here are some pics:

One of the food stops at a farm stand along the way. Corn chowder and baguettes! Yum!

Here's Quiver Queen and me approaching a covered bridge in NH:

And here's a view from a bridge over the Connecticut River:

We also ran into Happy Feet and Mr. Happy Feet, who were volunteering to help with the event.

A very fun day. And something I plan to do again next year.

Sounds like a fabulous day! What other goodies did you get to try?

Looks beautiful! I especially love the covered bridge!

Wow, that sounds awesome. Great scenery, good food, and a bike ride to boot! I'm jealous!

Beautiful day and gorgeous scenery with great company and good food--truly life can't get any better than that! The food was all locally grown, including the above mentioned corn chowder & baguettes, tabouli (I don't normally like tabouli, but this was exceptional), veggies, pulled pork or pulled beef sandwiches, vegetarian pizza, baked goods, zucchini & banana breads, lemonade, apples, fresh picked corn (super sweet and crunchy), and the cap on the traveling feast was "WhippiDip" ice cream.

What a cool event. Looks like it was a beautiful ride. I should try to head up to VT or MA to do some non-city biking before ski season starts.

What great scenery!

Don't you love good food on a ride? We have a ride we do in October with a pancake breakfast (fresh fruit toppings, oatmeal, OJ, etc) to start, a stop at a church for home made baked goodies and fruit, then home made soups, home made breads, and a sandwich spread for lunch when we get back. If it wasn't for the scrumptious food, we wouldn't bother with the ride at all(although the fall colors are nice).

This ride looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

Consider yourself invited!

Sounds delicious!!!! What a cool idea!

I love the New England images as well as the idea of a food tour. The covered bridge is a real treat.

Next year it's scheduled for September 13. Come and ride with us!

Feeling envious here - wish I lived in Vermont. The scenery on your pic is beautiful - and I love covered bridges.

I  Vermont. I live close by and spend a lot of time there!

Ski Diva, great photos, and it sounds like a great day.
