I don't know if you have "fridges" in the US so I thought you might like to see what options we have in the summer in the UK

Background
I missed half of my holiday to Austria in march after tearing my MCL. I couldn't do much for 6 weeks after so missed the end of the season in Scotland which is always the nicest
Mid July I found out I have DVT so couldn't do Mountain biking which is my summer sport and by this point I was seriously :mad2: off, all I am allowed to do is walk.
A month later I am sooo bored so we decide to go to the indoor snow dome. It is only a 200m long slope so I figure if I just take it easy it can't be any more energetic than walking. There is a ski shop there which lets you demo skis so I went and borrowed some Nordica Dobermann Spitfires, 170cm, these are the unisex version of the Firefox. My boots were hurting so much I ended up borrowing some hire boots and I just felt like I had totally forgot to ski for about the first hour then all of a sudden it just all came together and I was having fun :yahoo: I love these skis although if I was buying them I would probably just go for a 160cm as I would only use them on piste.
They have freestyle nights in the Snowdomes so if you're into the park you can go along and practise jumps and rails for a few hours. Its nothing like skiing outside but if you want to try new skis, or are into jumping or even just seriously missing your skiing fix then its a fun way to pass a few hours

Conclusions
Skiing on a 200m long icy slope is better than not skiing at all
I  the Dobermanns
I :mad2: my boots

Edit: I was just looking at the webpage and they did some outdoor demos recently and they did one in Edinburgh, where I live, so here's a nice pic of a cool snowboarder in front of Edinburgh Castle, now that's not something you see often
