Wow, it's fun to explore resorts for the first time! I've skied all over Colorado so this year my husband and I decided to mix things up and go to Utah's Cottonwood Canyon resorts. We skied five days from March 4 - 8 (I'm now recuperating!).
Alta was my favorite place because of the gorgeous mountain scenery (go there on a bluebird day!). I liked Solitude because it offered a lot of variety, great glades (loved the trees in Honeycomb Canyon), and no lift lines on a Saturday. Brighton had some challenging steeps--Scree Slope freaked me out a bit at the top because I couldn't see down it, but otherwise the ski area had fun terrain and powder. I liked Snowbird's Mineral Basin (Bookends traverse=fun) and Gad 2 areas (Tiger Tail=cool), but it felt more crowded and a bit more glitzy than the other places.
I see that others have been skiing these resorts this winter, too. Thanks to those who posted about Porcupine Pub. We stayed in the nearby Midvale section of SLC so we went there quite a bit. OK, every day!
I'm glad that I made the trip from Vermont. I posted photos and recaps of my ski days on my ski blog if you'd like to check them out. Here are a couple of shots from the trip.
