Mammoth has great mid-December coverage right now. The weather was amazing--blue skies and little to no wind. No crowds this past week. Wow.

I took my 159cm Fischer My Mtn 80s (80mm waist). I have been working hard on my physical conditioning and was amazed to find that I didn't need to stop multiple times on long runs.

Chair 1 was updated to a 6-pack with automatic gates and conveyor. It's an easy adjustment since it's the same as last year's updated Chair 16. In turn, Chair 16's unloading area problem (created by said chair update) was fixed to reduce skier traffic when unloading.

The drive from Southern California (5.5-6.5 hrs) was smooth and free of traffic. The construction on Hwy 395 is ongoing in some spots. I barely recognized the Olancha area with the way they separated and widened both sides. Not sure this will have a positive impact on the tiny businesses in the area but it's a boon to drivers.
