TR: Impulsively A-Basin!

I have had a great two days at A-Basin.
Since I hadn't experienced A-Basin, this was all new to me. Conditions were typical spring soft snow and the skiers were dressed in everything from shorts, to typical winter clothing, but the goofiest was the guy in the red wig and dress!
I did hit a teeny cornice and think I got 4 feet of air, (not sure and I'm not telling if I find out different:o )
The East wall was closed, as well as pali, but the woods was a ton of fun, and the bumps were soft and playful:D

I will post the few pics I got on Monday. Until then........
Smile and THINK SNOW!

Pics As Promised...........

When I left home the grass was green and the Cherry Trees were in full bloom!

When I arrived, the mountains in a distance showed some sign of snow. Amazing how much greenery and budding trees at the base of the mountains while the tops are so inviting and skiable.

After making my way from Expedition chair to Lenewee, it was finally time to test my altitude tolerance.
I was so excited to see good coverage in the trees. Love the trees!

Why did I wait so long to make this trip to Colorado?

The majesty of these mountains is overwhelming!

I will definitely be heading to A Basin Next season. I've taken measure to assure that I keep that promise to myself.

I skied A basin in Feb of 1982. The scenery is still the same and still beautiful. Great shots and what a great memory Snowhot!

Wow, looks great! Maybe we'll push our late season trip back a bit next year and get another few weeks out of the season.

I want to say............The altitude worried me and I had NO issues at all.
I drank a ton of water and took sudafed for my sinus infection.

It was a great thing to find out that I can hold up in physical ability as well as skill in that environment!

I Still can't believe I did it!
Someone pinch me!

Note to self:
Make sure future husband has family near the mountains.

Glad you went for the last minute trip. Looks like a great time, and nothing beats finding out your season isn't actually over. Turns out you can have your golf, and ski too

As they say, how can you keep them down on the farm after they've seen Paree?

I love A-Basin - it's one of my favorite places. Such a great atmosphere

We went with friends who lived in Denver, who said that the barbecue parties people have at the base are brilliant, especially the 4th July - imagine! I really enjoyed seeing your pics - I have a couple here -

Definitely different temps when you were there Chaletlafloret!
I didn't hike up to the sign you posted and the pali lift was closed. I did play a teensy bit on the cornice when I was skiing alone, but the bumps under it were intimidating.

Gosh, I want to turn around and go right back out there!

OOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I have GREAT memories of Palavacini when I was a high school student! I was trying to keep up with some hot-shot boys who I was in love with and ended up skiing down that FABULOUS double black diamond on my face! Seriously....straight down face first! There's no stopping on Palavacini! IT is SO steep (with lots of bumps!)!

Don't you love it!?

Dang, I hate it when the grown up in me wins over the kid in me!

Alas, I will be sensible for the moment and get some stuff done around here this week.

Ya know............ABasin is supposed to stay open until June 3rd..............maybe............
NAG, you got room for me at your place?
