What a great day! The sun was shining, the sky was blue, the Divas took Okemo by a storm! It was wonderful to meet and ski with such a great group of women!

Here's who was there:

playoutside, veggielasagna, kiragirl, ride_ski, Ski Diva, tcarey, cnewbound, vanhoskier, Mr. vanhoskier, Greekpeakskier, lilgeorg, and Mr. lilgeorg.

We skied all over the mountain. It was a little icy, but hey, this is Vermont!

The only fly in the ointment was an accident -- Mr. Vanhoskier ended up being sledded down by the ski patrol and whisked to the hospital for an on-the-slope injury. I understand he hurt his shoulder. Don't worry -- he'll be okay.

Anyway, here are some pix (I hope I got all the names right!):

Before getting started for the day (Left to right. Seated: Mr. Vanhoskier, Playoutside, Kiragirl; second row, Lilgeorg, Ski Diva, Veggielasagna; third row: Vanhoskier, Mr. Lilgeorg, GreekPeakSkier, ride_ski

Veggie Lasagna showing the inside of her boot. She skied all day without the insert that goes below the foot bed. Someone at her ski shop neglected to put it back, after doing some boot work! BTW, she's only been skiing since December, but you'd never, ever know it!

Thanks, everyone, for coming out! A great day, indeed!

So, it's funny seeing everyone by their s/n. When you get together for these events...do you call everyone by their real name or is it more like, "Yo Veggie, looking good with the pole plants!"

Do we have to kiss Ski Diva's ring...like we do with all other royalty:ROTF:

Seriously though, that looks like a lot of fun...it's great to have this board and it's great to see women having such a great time:thumbsup:

To be honest, it's not easy remembering everyone's real name AND their user name. But after a while, it's not too bad.

And no, you don't have to kiss my ring, but if you really want I could give you a big smooch!

(We do hug.)

It was so great to meet everyone. We had a great day on the slopes. It was a bit windy and chilly, but this is New England. At least it wasn't raining.

SuperMoe, we tried to refer to each other by our real names, but sometimes had to revert to screen names. It took me a while to remember everyone.

A big thank you for SkiDiva for acting as our very own"Julie the cruise director". She did a great job and none of her little ducklings got lost.

I'm glad I was able to spend the day with such amazing skiiers! A bit icy, but beautiful. I had a great time and it is always nice to have a guide to plan out trails for you Thanks Ski Diva!
Unfortunately not all can get away to the slopes. This includes (the future) Mr. Veggielasagna. He was however able to reap the benefits of the day on the slopes thanks to ride_ski providing us with our dessert!:becky:

So, the first thing I was impressed with was the incredible goodheartedness of the ski diva herself. We should kiss her ring. We should pay her large amounts of money. We should perhaps all name our firstborn (pair of skis) after her. It's clear she does all this because she is a nice person. She sure as heck doesn't make anything off of this -- in fact, it costs her. And yet she creates community just because... she can.

That has been clear in the forum -- in her encouragement of all skiers. And it was also clear in her treatment of us on the slopes: she herded, she listened to people's desires, she was careful that all were included.

It was also crystal clear when there was an injury today. She came back to it, figuring out how to deal with it, showing tremendous empathy.

So, helmets and wool caps off to the diva. She is a princess among skiers.

oh no! :( I hope Mr. Vanhoskier IS okay! I guess if you must take a tumble, it's better toward the end of the season...? The first year I made plans to ski out west, I snapped my achilles tendon playing squash THREE days before leaving. Uh, make that before we were SUPPOSED to leave. We finally did, a year later.
Photos look like everyone else stayed on their skis and had fun, despite classic New England conditions. Maybe I'll make it to Okemo Diva Day next time!

Best wishes to Mr. Vanho for a full and speedy recovery!

Looks like you guys had a great time out there. Not surprising, as divas getting together generally yields great results. What was for dessert, ride ski? :eyebrows: (I'm wayyy too fond of food. Who am I kidding? I don't think that's a possibility )

Deja Vu

These Okemo pics are DEJA VU from Utah last week!!!

Seeing Ski Diva and Lilgeorg in Okemo after just seeing them here in Utah is very weird.

Divas rock, bringing the fun of skiing to every mountain.

And thanks Ski Diva Wendy for building this community of women (and Diva Dudes) who support eachother in their love of skiing.

Skiing is just a metaphor of life----weathering the storms, facing our fears, connecting with others, and escaping our problems for a few hours while we play---and the love of Mother Nature.

Let's make every day a Diva Day on the slopes!!!!!

Num,

I made brownies with chocolate chunks in them. And they were mighty tasty if I do say so myself :becky: The only problem was that they were in my bag at one lodge and we ate a different lodge. So no dessert after lunch, but they made a great apres ski snack. Sorry to the Divas that missed out. But that meant there were enough for veggielasagna and SkiDiva to take some home for the Mr's  (as you could see from veggielasagna's post above.)

Veggielasagna, Mr. Veggielasagna is quite handsome....any date yet?

Does anyone know how vanho's DH is doing? I pm'd her last night, no reply yet. Worried. She's a fast and furious reply-type, really nice person....I'm concerned.

Mr. Vanhoskier is doing better. He broke 3 bones in his shoulder but will not need surgery. In fact, they could not even cast it. So, he is to keep it immobile until it heals. Then he will need some PT to get things moving again.

I was the other skier in the pile up. I hit a lake of ice and lost my balance and control. I was falling and shooting off the ice as Ed was trying to avoid another skier. That's when our paths collided.

I feel terrible about the accident and my part in it. Both Ed and Wendy have been very kind to me. I wish Ed a painless ,speedy recovery.

Looks like a great day! I'm jealous of all you divas who can do mid-week skiing on the east coast -- I'll have to take a "sick day" for one of these eventually.

Hope everything goes as well as possible with Mr. V's recovery.

I had a great "Day 17" yesterday at Okemo with the diva-gals! It's great to ski with women who can really ski! (and FAST too I might add) I had a blast. Thanks Diva for getting it organized so well!
I'll be at Killington this coming weekend if anyone wants to get together--on the slopes or apres ski!

Just got back from Okemo -- had a blast skiing with Ski Diva, her DH, my DH, and Vanhoskier, who whoo-hood down every run! Said her DH was doing well all considering, though I didn't get a chance to meet him. Mr. Ski Diva took a pic that will most likely make it onto this thread soon.

Ah, to be back on snow!
