TR Big Sky March 28-31 :)

Three years ago around this time period. I had a traumatic ski injury at Sun Valley. It has been a long road back. Every year since this injury I am always anxious and have had bad memories. This has now changed. We went to Big Sky and had a really really nice time. I had been to Big Sky back in 2009, and much has changed.

They now have bubble lifts, some faster chairs, the old Moonlight basin is now the Madison area with an 8 seater bubble chair.
I primarily stayed on the greens as my leg does not have my previous strength nor confidence. I did try a few blues and ungroomed blues but I was good sticking to the greens. Some of them were actually "Steep" by mid-Atlantic standards. It snowed every day a little bit.

This was a great victory trip and I was all smiles. The old Explorer 2-seated lift closed for ever on March 30th. I made sure to ride it a few times. They actually started construction on March 31. There will be a new Gondola put in and they plan to have people who just want to go up to the top of Lone Peak be able to access the Tram/ It will be interesting to see how they combine the skiers with those that just want to go up the Tram.
I was so glad to have done this trip. I definitely want to go back in the next two years. I just love the wide open terrain.

So glad to hear your back on the slopes. Have to admit, I like the old Big Sky...but I guess I have to except the expansion

Thanks for the trip report! So glad you had a good time. Big Sky has been in my Top Five ever since I joined Diva West there in 2011. There is fun terrain for everyone there.

It will be interesting to see how they combine the skiers with those that just want to go up the Tram.
Are you thinking about loading for the new gondola? There are other resorts that have people doing scenic rides on gondolas during the winter. Pretty sure Whiteface does and I saw people using the Sun Valley gondola to go for an extended family lunch at the Roundhouse mid-mountain restaurant with little kids.

As for the Tram, there is always space for scenic ride passengers for a relatively low price. It was $10 when I did it last season. The Tram has a capacity of 75 but only 30 are allowed to go up with skis or snowboards. Very different from the Snowbird or Jackson Hole tram that can have about 100 people starting to ski/board at the same time after unloading at the top.

I definitely want to go back in the next two years. I
Maybe a mini-gathering of Divas who ski the mid-Atlantic and/or southeast in 2027?

If you're open to having a local Diva join, I'd totally drive over for that.....Or I guess "drive around" is the proper term because while I'm only 30 miles away as the crow flies, it's a 100-mile drive, because that's how the [public] roads are...

Any time there is a local Diva, I'm happy to see if we can take at least a few runs together. Have skied with @mountainwest at GT a few times.

Have also skied with SLC Divas at Alta. Usually on Sundays, but sometimes during the week if they can adjust their work schedule.
