TR: Abasin on Estrogen!!!

Seeing as this is my first trip out west to ski, SnowHot felt it was appropriate that I at least start the trip report thread.

I'll admit the day didn't start well. I was pretty emotional when I arrived at Bradley International Airport. It was a solemn flight to Minneapolis. But once I got to Minneapolis, I was greeted by SnowHot and volklgirl at the gate and the day started to turn around immediately. :D Add Phil Pug when we got to Denver, and we were a merry lot. I wasn't exactly impressed with Denver itself and how flat and barren it looked, but it got better the closer we got to Abasin. Once we got to Loveland Pass, I was thrilled and freaked out at the same time. I have a fear of heights and I was on the side of the dropoff - and the lack of guardrails made me nervous. But it was amazing. And as we came into sight of Abasin, I knew I had made the right choice getting on the plane in the morning.

We stopped briefly to see the Hart rep and I got a closer look at what I'll be skiing tomorrow. Yeah, I'm nervous. Yeah, it's been a while since I've skied, and my knee isn't 100% still. But I realized that I can do this. I don't have to be spectacular, I don't have to do anything crazy. I'm just going to have FUN. :D

A couple drinks at dinner and the day was fully turned around. I'm surrounded by the love of Divas and I'm on the eve of the trip of a lifetime for me. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. :D

I hope everyone made it up safely and are having a great time. 9News says adverse conditions over Loveland Pass with closures. So...hopefully they could go around through Keystone. Weather in Denver has been bizarre...from freezing cold and windy at DS Lacrosse game, to sunny and clear...then sleet, hail and rain at DD Soccer! Gotta love spring in Colorado.

Looked to the hills while I was out and thought of you all!

Wow, how much fun did I have today? Here is my TR:

6:30 AM - Alarm? What the hell? Oh, I'm going skiing with the Divas :D

6:45 AM - Logs onto cotrip.org... holy snow alert, leaving NOW!!!!

8:00 AM - Whiteout conditions on Loveland Pass make Gina pee in her snowpants a little.

8:30 AM - See Divas everywhere... I'm a hot mess/$hit $how... who knew snow could stick to the bottom of your skis? "I'm not moving.... I'm not moving!"

8:45 ish - First run with Severine and itri. Holy powder!

10 ish - Whiteout conditions due to wind shear, in we go to drink some coffe And lo and behold the legendary NVG makes her appearance!

11:30 - Ate and chilled out

more runs got Severine up to the top!!!

12:30 ish - NVG and mindy decide it's time to ski - I'll leave the details/video to itri here.

Lots of catcalling, more snow stuck to the bottom of my ski, what is going on with that???????????????????

A CRAZY FUN AWESOME DAY, and one to be called one of the best ski days EVER for me.

I'm not in Denver, but I've been watching the webcams all day. The middle mountain one is stuck - sometime this AM. Heh Calgal, I hear you got snow too!!
