Yikes. Do you know when this was? I can't find any articles about it after a quick search on google news. Also, do you know if it happened after-hours? Is that why no one was on the lift at the time?
Whenever I start thinking about terrible things that could happen on a chairlift, they always involve the cable -- I never realized those poles could snap like that. Must have been quite a crack, though... it looks like the whole cylinder is filled with snow/ice.
