Yeah, it was really fun. The conditions were susprisingly good, plus I lucked out with the weather and it was a *beautiful* day. I definitely recommend making the drive if you're ever in the Portland area - 100% worth it.

Fall, not so good, depending...

Rachel, I'm sorry I couldn't meet up with you--had some big stuff to deal with family-wise, just couldn't do it. Next time (and I'll have a higher ability level where Palmer doesn't give me weak knees, too!).

What time were you up there? I thought the camps had their lanes up all day.

We got up there about an hour later than I'd hoped... everything took a little longer than I thought it would (picking up my co-worker, getting out of portland, renting skis). We were on the magic mile chair at 8:30, and I skiied straight through until 1:30 when the lifts closed. I was pretty beat by the end, but I still wish I'd gotten the 7:30-8:30 hour in... the snow was a lot better before 11 or so than afterwards.

The camps in the race lanes started moving out between 11 and 12, probably. By 12:30 or so the snowfield was 100% open.

Cool! If I'm going thru enough skiing withdrawal mid summer, I just may do it. We're possibly driving up to Seattle for a reunion on July 26....hmmmm.....with a stop at Timberline both directions! I just may do it!:ski2:
