Thoughts on Hintertux as Interail destination?

I'm heading to France in the summer for my cousins wedding and, as I detest flying with a passion, I'm going to do a little Interail trip. (Mid July)

I was looking up resorts where I could camp and have easy access to a range of mountains for hiking. I came across Hinterux as an all year ski resort and as I wondered if it's worth going to for summer skiing. I'll be heading in that direction anyway as I'm keen to visit Vienna, And they are promoting their public transport links which seem to be pretty good.

I have invested a lot of time into my Ski skills at my local dry ski slope, but I have never skied on real life snow and the website talks a lot about athletes coming to hone their skills before the start of the season. I would say I'm an intermediate skier, performing parallel turns on a dry slope.

Do you think Hintertux is an OK place for me to go for a couple of days just to make the most of those ski lessons?

Thanks

Tilly

I think it sounds great fun! The one caveat I would mention is allowing time to adjust to altitude if you normally live at sea level or not up a mountain - I was caught out by mild altitude sickness at Val Thorens manifesting as fatigue and nausea, which took 4 days to improve. I still skied the entire time, but was in bed early every night.

We were there in July, 2018, and we did not ski. It was very warm and slushy and I just couldn't justify the cost. There were others skiing, but not many. They do have an area of free tubing, though, which we did enjoy.
