 My new Mantras are here. They are still shrink wrapped in the plastic. Oh virgin skis...how I love you so.

Called my shop, dropping them off tonight, they'll be ready first thing in the morning.

I volunteered to work at Aspen Highlands tomorrow for the day during "peak staffing" - so I've got about 10" of fresh, a day on the mountain tomorrow. And brand spankin' new skis of my dreams. What could be better? ohhh...and Valentine's gifts from my sweetie that are BOUND to be ski related!! Life is good. Expensive, but good.

Wow - guess the pressure's on for a review

It's a cloudless, sunny & bright blue day out today. Already 25 degrees at 8:30 am. Heading to Highlands around 11. Stay tuned!

3 words: A-MA-ZING

Holy crapola - do I love these skis!

170 is the perfect length for me. Just right. The day I demoed them was an epic powder day. Today was nice, but a lot more hard pack to contend with. However, these babies hang on nicely! Lots of pop. Some reviews of this ski complained that they're only good for big GS turns on groomers, but I had no problem doing my quick turns at all! And bumps!! WOW. Such nice pop and transition. Also, with my light Jester bindings mounted on them - I noticed a big weight difference than when I demoed with the big clunky demo bindings.

Burly, stiff, lively, quick, floaty...Mantra is thy name!! This ski is no joke & totally rips it up everywhere I've taken it.

No more money spending for a while. Ramen noodles & mac & cheese for me

Congrats! Would you mind sharing your height and weight? I'm curious to know as I have a sense of your skier ability. I bought the 163 Auras and they seem just right for me right now and when I demo'd them, they held the grip on windblown hardpack just fine. Mine arrived today and what a difference with the light, low profile bindings! Demo bindings are like bowling balls.

Do take a photo and post for us, ok? And enjoy your ramen noodles. :becky:

I'm 5'8" about 155. Although the last time I weighed myself...it was pre-ski season. So I actually think I'm putting ON weight by building muscle. I "feel" thinner...but I bet when I step on the scale :fear: that I'll be heavier.

I bet I'd like the Auras too - but I couldn't bring myself to buy them without the demo.

OK, that's good to know, thanks. I'm 5'7" and 145 lbs. and an intermediate skier, so I think the 163 is perfect for me.

I suspect that if you like the Mantras, that you might have found the Auras a bit light (they are 20% lighter) so I think you wound up with the perfect ski for you. I have never demo'd before because I didn't have access to it, but I've definately learned the hard way and had to sell a few sets of skis, so I think you did the right thing to buy a known quantity.

And I know you have a boyfriend, but those sticks and Jesters are gonna be a guy magnet, for sure :D . That will keep your BF on his toes. Enjoy! And ski safe!

He skis the same skis AND bindings - which I think is hysterical. All we need is some matching one-piece ski suits!

I skied with a Bear from Epic in Big Sky last Saturday and his GF had the same skis, smaller size. I thought it was sweet. Anyway, the guys will think the Mantras and Jesters are cool for a "girl". :eyebrows: We Divas are redefining the phrase "Ski Like A Girl"!!!
