Got an email from evo last night that they had the Sierras on sale, so I went ahead and snagged the last pair in 172! They should be here in about a week and I'm so excited! I still need to order bindings - any recommendations? The only other bindings I've used are the Tyrolia Attacks and Protectors, and my DIN is usually at a 6.
They only have 152 left. :frown: I was really interested in getting it, too but I need the 162. I'm heading to Reno in a few weeks. I might try to demo it.

When I got the email, they only had 152 and 172 listed so I don't think you missed it, they just didn't have them! If that makes you feel any better.

Congrats! My DIN is usually 6.5 and I have the SLR protectors on mine. While I'm glad to invest in protecting my knees, after a long day the Sierras + protectors feel heavy on the shoulders. If it's a long walk to the car, I'll take the time to strap them to my pack instead of carrying them on my shoulder.

When I had Volkls, I went with Markers because that combination gets you the 2-year Volkl warranty. Since you're in the middle range of most bindings, you should have your choice of bindings and can decide what you want to prioritize across features.

That's amazing, you got the amazing fox graphic as well too, didn't you? I personally mounted them with Look Pivot 15s. My Din is usually set the 6.5, so this is overkill, but I like the metal binding, how low they are, and the extra weight and shock absorption they give. If I was going to pick a different binding, I'd pick the Salomon Strives or the Attacks, because I like the binding to have a low height close to the ski. Most bindings are really good honestly, its hard to go wrong.

THAT SAID; If you are heading to Reno, the factory is supposed to be amazing and demoing the skis is super attractive.

If you are looking specifically for a sale on the Sierra 162s:
Moment sells cosmetic blem skis new from the factory. These skis only have minor graphical issues and still have full warranty, but have some nice discounts. They also still have the non-blem versions of the 162 for sale direct from Moment. I personally have bought all my Moment skis except the used ones right from the factory, they are great.

I'll be in Reno this weekend. I was considering demoing the Sierras.

YES I got the fox! I live in the southwest and feel like I couldn't not get them. Honestly, first thought was THESE SKIS ARE TOO COOL FOR ME. They're so so pretty.

I got the Sierras mounted (with Look Pivot 12s) and took them out today - conditions are rapidly deteriorating so this is my last day of the season. I'm not much of a spring skier, and the snow was either super hard and icy or super slushy with tons of exposed rocks, so I stuck to the groomers. I feel like I need a few more days of skiing in different conditions to really get a feel for the Sierras, but here are my initial impressions:

* I thought they would be unwieldy and hard to turn as they are wider and longer than any other ski I've tried: they are actually super nimble, they feel shorter than my Sheeva 9s (that are 164), and I had no problem doing pivot slips, falling leaves, or flat 360 turns. I feel like they would be great in the bumps and trees. They also feel wayyyyy lighter than my other skis and I was much less tired at the end of the day.
* I thought the triple camber might feel weird or throw me off: to be fair, I don't think I did any real carving today in these conditions, but I never felt like the tails were grabby and never caught an edge. I could release from any turn.
* Wasn't sure how the center mount would feel: honestly, they feel great! The Sheevas really reward being forward on the skis and driving hard, and it was nice to ski a little more relaxed - and again, it was much less tiring.
* I couldn't get on edge at all on the hardpack and my first few runs I felt like a newborn deer. I was able to feel a little more comfortable once things softened up, but I think I need more practice in normal conditions to figure out how to carve these things.

Definitely looking forward to skiing them more next season - I have a really good feeling about them and think I've found my skis!
