The view from my deck.

Some of this is just plain snow that fell out of the sky. And some is from snow sliding off my roof. Still, I think it's pretty impressive -- and a little scary.

Did you post a very similar pic last season? I feel like I've drooled over this before.

You should post it in the "how deep is your snowpack" thread on epic and represent the east coast :snow:

Hey - at least it's sliding off the roof! I lived for a few years in a house in upstate NY that had an inverted, v-shaped roof -- the architect who originally built the house was, uh, not exactly practical.

That is kinda scary. Does that door open out or in?? Thinking about having to get out of there fast!! Hubby's excuse for staying at our condo at Tremblant is that he has to keep the deck clear!! I mean its a condo, they have people that do that, that we pay! No way, only he can clean it right.

impressive!

It has been warm here, so things have been melting. We have a killer icicle growing off the side of our apartment. With this warm weather this weekend, I was worried it was going to fall down and take the roof with it!

The door opens in. We're not worried about getting out; heck, a fire would melt it, anyway. It reminds me of a tidal wave, though, just as it's getting ready to break.

out my front door

Actually, somewhere here is the PATH that leads to my front door.
Nothing falling off the roof, this is the actual snow depth - about 42".

These pics are making me very happy!:becky:

Last year when we were at Big Sky, we flew back during the Valentine's Day storm (had to fly to Laguardia in NY and rent a car to drive home because Bradley was closed) but it was so worth it for the snow that we had for February school vacation and the rest of the month! I guess I'll just have to come here every February so it snows back home. LOL

Enjoy!

You have a good memory. Yes, I did post a similar pic. But this is quite a bit higher.

Wow, that's quite an icicle, Sheena!

Anyone else in New England experiencing hurricane-force winds? Good grief, it's just RAGING out there and has been all night. DH had to sleep with ear plugs - the window frames (right in the line of fire of wind direction) were rattling all night. Needless to say, we now have branches, flotsam, debris, pine needles EVERYWHERE, and the snow has drifted to 7-8 feet in places. New pics pending...

We had howling winds for most of the night in northern NJ. Our trees got a good shaking a week ago when we had a localized ice storm with lots of wind, so all that's outside this morning are a few smaller branches.

The previous storm was downright scary, though! An inch or so of ice accumulation on the trees, then the temps went just above freezing in the afternoon and tree limbs and big chunks of ice rained down everywhere--it looked like an ice-maker gone mad!

We had that yesterday and last night. Seems to have died down now some. In fact, I'm going to go over to the mountain and give it a try.

More snow on the way, Tuesday-Wednesday! Woooo-hoooo!!!! :snow:

Just rub it in. All we got out of the storm was...wind. We all went skating yesterday instead of skiing because of the 50 mph gusts. Huge bummer!

You ladies have me to thank for the snow, btw -- I've been sick and so we've taken the last 2 weekends off. You're welcome. ;)

That's a hell of an icicle, Sheena. Are you on both floors, or connected to a neighbor by ice?

^^^ Feel better soon!! FYI, I don't think this snow is going anywhere any time soon, so it's waiting for you  More due Tues-Wed, could be significant, weather-jury is still out on this storm track. Wind still raging and only +11 on my front porch.

Ugg... I vowed not to ski during vacation week, since it will be crowded and expensive... but the new job is FORCING me to take next Monday off... hrm........... :eyebrows:

As for winds boy we had em last night. This morning seemed less (still very windy, but not quite rattle the house windy) until I decided to drive to work and felt like my car (Pathfinder with thule box on top) was gonna get blown over or the box ripped off!

According to my home weather station which is sheltered from a lot of winds (just can't get the anemometer up high enough with all the trees we have), we had a gust of 32mph before midnight last night. Since midnight we've been up to 27mph. I believe if not for the trees you could easily add 15-20mph to those speeds based on what I saw reported at the official NWS sites that are local and free of the trees.

I'd post on SkiDiva more, but lately I've either been Thawing Frozen pipes, Snow plowing, or Skiing.

Love the pic!
