The NEW view of my deck!

We had a foot of snow last night. So between all the snow we've had and the snow falling off my roof, this is what my deck looks like NOW. Pretty scary, huh?

And this is the view out my kitchen window. Keep in mind the window is above the kitchen sink. The snow off the top of the picture is the snow from the overhang:

And here's Mr. Ski Diva, in front of our house this morning:

Had a good day skiing though. Good practice for Utah, though I have a LOT to learn to be a good powder skier!

Some piles!! Has Okemo listed a season total? I'm curious. I just got one for Saddleback, they're up to 211" as of this a.m., and it's still snowing here. 3-6" due Friday night!

haylmom should have lots too. With satellite TV I get all kinds of stations and one is CBC New Brunswick. They got a 1 foot too.

This last storm was wicked heavy stuff, though. I think you will find Utah's snow to be significantly lighter!! Even lighter than CO. Saw an average moisture content comparison somewhere once. Utah wins.

And we're pretty much past the snowblower stage, except for walkways. Now it's the tractor with the snowblower attachment -- or the neighbor's pick-up with plow!! I cannot see the street when backing out of my driveway for the piles on the sides - in an SUV! What a mud season we are going to have in northern New England.....

And now they're saying Vermont is supposed to get another foot tonight/tomorrow, Maine between one and two feet!

Up to a foot expected here. We don't have a metal roof like yours -- regulation shingles. As a result, we've had to get up on it and shovel it off -- TWICE. Roof rake just hasn't been enough to lower the load (PSI). We have an addition on the back of our house that is due for re-roof and probably will receive metal this time. Does your house have a basement? The bigger issue for us is what happens to those piles when they start melting. Big piles are almost a guarantee of water down there :( The soil can only absorb so much, and I have more rocks than soil!

Yeah, we have a basement, but so far we've been lucky -- no water. Then again, we haven't seen anything like THIS before!

Hopefully, it'll melt VERY slowly.

There was a huge storm in early Dec 03, I think it was 32" here - OVERNIGHT. Then a few days later, 3" of RAIN. Wow. That was armageddon for our basement, which is in harm's way at the bottom of a hill. The sump pump just laughed. We wound up having to rent an industrial pump, which went full on for about 6 hours to get it all out. Unusual situation (that's one where I had issues getting back TO Manchester, followed by this rain).

But definitely be prepared to "disperse" some of the piles in mid to late April.... --- well, let's not worry about that - not here yet. Bigger issues to consider right at the moment. Do you know what your region's total has been up to now? I think the town here is saying 175". Way more just 10 miles west, as I'm right on the mountain edge, the region's referred to as the foothills/gateway.

I don't know the total, though that'd be interesting to find out. I did hear on VPR that this is one of the top 10 snowiest winters on record.

We are definitely getting there!!! Quite a way to go to top the season record at Sugarloaf (will check on those stats later), but it's only Feb 29. BTW, Happy Leap Day, everyone! Shutterfly just sent me an offer for 29 free prints today!
