With all the talk lately about overcrowding at EPIC and IKON resorts, it's nice to remember the little mountains where a lot of us got our start. LL BEAN recently released a new film featuring Whaleback, a tiny ski hill in New Hampshire that went bankrupt a few years ago and managed to start up again, thanks to the efforts of a lot of community members. I drive by Whaleback from time to time, and though I've never skied there, I've been curious about how it's managed to survive. Anyway, it's a charming film and nice to see a piece that gets to the heart of what skiing is all about.
