The Daily Run Monday March 26

Squaw

Ski Diva Extraordinaire
Hello Sister Divas!

I just stumbled across The Ski Diva when doing an online search for some gear...WOW! So I'm new member #247 (such a distinction....:p ).

It is wonderful to find a place full of other mad dog women skiers....with an, ehem, different angle than most ski magazines, online sites and movies. Though I eagerly view and read all...anything with snow, yes?

May I suggest a daily thread for greetings, check ins, personal stories....you know, the ones that are about us and our lives AND our skiing, but more chatty...an ongoing conversation that doesn't neatly fit in with the other forum categories? "The Daily Run" as a name....??? Other ideas?

I participate in a very similar forum for artists https://www.wetcanvas.com, and in the Watercolor Forum there is something called The Daily Wash.

It's fun to "see" people there each day...or every couple of days depending on the snow. Or maybe for this community a Weekly Run would be better frequency?

Your thoughts?

Jen

Hi, Squaw!

Welcome to TheSkiDiva! Glad you found us. Always happy to have a new Diva! And we're always open to suggestions.

We actually have something like that already called Dawning Chorus. Check it out.

We have a lot of options for personal postings in our Miscellaneous forum. Plus once you post five times, you'll have access to our "Divas Only, Dahling," section, where you'll find even more.

Squaw, welcome to The Ski Diva, the home of female ski obsession. Glad to see yet another artist on here!

Welcome Squaw. I think once you've joined us in Diva's Only Dahling you'll find what you're looking for. And this is a great place to be. Ski Diva do you think we can make it to 250 before weeks end. What a great way to finish March!!

Be pretty cool if we could! Go rustle up some friends! ("Pardon me, would you like to be a Diva?")

Hi Jilly, Ski Diva and Num...thanks for the welcome.

Just had to run out and get our son, calling in sick from school. And just saw your posts.

Yep, just checked out the Dawning Chorus...yep, similar idea by any name. And I'll look forward to the Divas Only, Dahling in a couple of more clicks.

Yes, I do have a life to lead, other than online! Oh well, what else can I do when there is no snow to ski...

so Num, what kind of artwork do you do? Assuming that your comment mean that you also are an artist...:D

I play around with a lot of stuff (photography, sculpture, painting, jewelery making, clothes design, murals, bookmaking etc), but professionally I focus mainly on mixed media pieces, as well as film (cinematography, editing, sound) and sound installations. Art is a love of mine, but it isn't my main gig, teaching is. But the schedule that comes with teaching works great with making art! Summers are flexible, I teach classes or not, travel and research, and squeeze in time for my million side projects.

My last show was a benefit for Iraqi education, and I sold mixed media pieces that I displayed within some sound installations. I put up 8 installations in the center of the gallery, 5 of which had pieces in them, the other 3 were just the installations, and had the other seven pieces around the perimeter of the gallery.

Liquidfeet and ISki are artists as well, and possibly more that have yet to out themselves :D

How about you?

well, what makes the money is something called graphic facilitation.

Was going to upload an example, but this forum file size limit is a challenge!

Imagine when people step to a flip chart to take notes. But make it paper 4 feet high and 6 to 20 feet long. In real time I capture what people say in text and image. Strategic planning...visioning...new product development. A fair a mount of simple drawing and illustration goes along with it, like my friend Tuck who I just attached.

The last couple of years I've been deep into watercolor and polymer clay. For my own explorations, not (yet) making an income. The drive to create. Much like the drive to ski.
