As many skiers know, James Niehues painted hundreds of trail maps for ski areas/resorts, both large and small. He's started a new project to celebrate American National Parks. Read on for details.

James Niehues, one of the most widely viewed artists of the 21st century, has started the most ambitious project of his career. After 35 years of painting the world’s iconic ski resorts, he has turned his attention to celebrating America’s beloved National Parks and breathtaking landscapes. Inspired by Ansel Adams, the series begins with four western icons: Yosemite National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Grand Canyon National Park and Zion National Park.​

Niehues is targeting 50 illustrations and will enlist the help of his fans to select the most iconic views in America. As his commissioned work for ski areas winds down, Niehues finally has the time to start a journey he has contemplated for many years and is thrilled to be applying his unmatched skill and exacting detail to the challenge of national parks and landscapes. It is a quest born of inimitable talent and a life-long love of nature, with a journey that is undefined.​

The second set of landscapes include Bryce Canyon, Glacier, Rocky Mountain National Park, Mount Rainier, Niagara Falls, and Mount Washington. Right now those are on the homepage for the project. The prints come in three sizes, with or without labels.

Niehues is donating 10% percent of the sale of each signed Art Print to the National Parks Conservation Association.
