I was skiing a week or two ago, and had one of the lift operators say "MAN! You must be having a good day! You've got that incredibly content smile on your face!"

Today, I was all smiles, ear to ear, all day. The snow was soft. Freshies everywhere. The sun was out, and there was hardly anyone around and I was skiing like... WOW. I'm in love with this sport, the community, my skis, everything... and with the way things have been going lately, its really nice!!!

What does it take for you to be absolutely bliss-ed out on the mountain? Powder? Sunshine? Good friends? What's the BEST day you can think of? Why was it so great?

:becky: :bounce:

I'm sooo glad you had a great day!! :becky:

I've been very fortunate to have many amazing days. Some have had to do with great snow, great friends, great weather. Others were just great snow. And other days were crappy snow, crappy weather, but great friends.

I've had people say to me (jokingly) "STOP SMILING!"

reasons: skiing with great peeps, sunny and flurrying at the same time, mid-20's, and my K2 BL's are crusin and floatin, turning and carvin!

I've had people say the same thing to me!

Friends and sun are nice, but I've had great days without or the other. No ice is a definite plus, too.

INCREDIBLE rarity in New England. (we can get this much, but it's usually much heavier) Everyone on that mountain was....:becky:

MSL - hope you have a repeat tomorrow!!!

My most giddy moments on skis are in varying conditions:

The first time I skied in the mountains (Winter Park, CO), I was deeply moved. I was giddy with delight. Temperature was 0' and I was by myself most of the time. I was just so awed by the beauty of the mountains (we have hills in Michigan, not mountains).

Also, with a great group of friends, Big Sky, Mt. Got off the gondola and all 8 of us just cruised down a freshly groomed blue/black. We were 'woo hooing' the whole way. A sharpshooter caught a picture of me on that run. Every time I look at that picture, I get a rush!!

My heart rate is up just thinking about some of the great times I have had on skis!

I felt pretty good this year when I earned Gold on a Nastar course too. That was a nice family moment for me - high five from DH. 'Go Mom' on the next run from my kids.:thumbsup:

OK, I'll stop now.

Just being out there. (I must be easily pleased? )

Only exception being LOTS of ice or hugely inadequate coverage (like, only 20% terrain open :( ). Or when I mistakenly underdressed for the day's condition. (big crowd and long line can be a PITA but I don't usually go to popular gaperville on President's week so rarely a situation I need to worry about)

Otherwise, I couldn't care less what the skiing condition/terrain is like. Powder, groomed, hardpacked... Once I'm on the mountain, I find ways to entertain myself well for a day! ;-)

A blissful day? I just had 5 of them in a row, and I'm physically exhausted but happy as a clam because I got in a ton of miles!

Conditions were recent new snow, really superb snow conditions all 5 days, sunny but cold weather so the snow didn't disintegrate, and very few people on the slopes so I had most runs to myself. Heaven! And I hope next week is just as good! :yahoo:

Dumping snow (free refills) with low wind and no lines. Love it when ski patrol opens the mountain in stages so the first track adrenaline just keeps coming and coming...

My best ski day this month was last weekend when I finally found a pair of boots that fit! It was easier to find DH than those perfect boots!

The magic boots upped my game BIG TIME! Apparently they also give me the ability to fly - DH was amazed at the air I caught off of "Kitchen Wall" at Alyeska.
