I discovered this site about a month ago and I have been religiously checking it almost daily for advise and information. The community seems incredible and the amount of information you can get from these advanced skiers is amazing. After listening to these advanced skiers talk about lessons, I decided to take one. My husband and kids just tell me I need to go faster...then I will be great! I knew that wasn't probably the case. I figured I was afraid of the speed because I wasn't sure of myself.
You have to understand as well, that I basically ski a hill here in Missouri. Since most people don't ski here, I was comparably one of the better skiers on our hill. I was a little worried about the quality of instruction, but the lesson was $18.00 and I decided I waste that much money buying beer in the bar after skiing most weekends.
I took my lesson yesterday and it was amazing. I took a group lesson, knowing that it would probably turn into a private lesson. I ended up with the director of the ski school as my instructor. He has taught all over the U.S. and has been doing it for over thirty years. He fixed several kinks I was having...picking up my inside ski on turns, toe weirdness on turns, all kinds of things, in one hour. Best money I spent this winter. I can't wait to take my next lesson.
And really, if it wasn't for the Divas...I would still be listening to my husbands "Just go faster!" mantra. Thanks againg all...and you can bet I'll keep reading and learning from you.

Wow. $18 for essentially a private lesson?! :jealous:

I'm so glad that you're enjoying the site and finding it worthwhile!

Great to read this!
It's practically an endorsement for PSIA/"Go With a Pro"
Sounds like you had a fantastic (and incredibly INEXPENSIVE!) experience and likely will keep going "back for more!" It's just amazing what an objective professional can pick up on and offer in terms of modification, improvement, skill enhancement.:clap:

Yep...I am totally hooked on lessons. I am going to get my 12 year old twin tipper to take one next week. We don't have anyone who can do freestyle teaching, but I think just regular ski lessons will help him just as much.
