Teenage girls and skiing: Why do they leave?

Great article Wendy. As a mother of two 13 year old girls/teens, one skier and 1 snowboarder, I can relate. I looked for months to find a snowboarding poster with a female (of any age) in it, and I rarely see girls at the hill. So far my girls seem pretty game, especially my snowboarder who is ready for the terrain park this Fall (and will soon smoke me there), but I do wonder if the lack of peer interaction will dampen her enthusiasm over time. She has a couple of girl friends who ski, but no snowboarder chick pals. I'll be skiing at Okemo as well as Stratton next season, and will see if Okemo has more of a girl teen friendly atmosphere....
