OK it's the 2nd week of September, starting to get chilly...and yet, I'm going onto manufacturer websites only to see LAST season's stuff still on there.

What gives? :noidea:

I know. I went to the Warren Miller site and our local ski club site to find out when the new movie is coming around.

WM had nothing on their site, and the ski club still had last years schedule.

Don't they know we're JONESIN' already???????

I was excited, I went to my local ski shop yesterday, and they had the 2009 line of Line skis out.
I almost have them convinced to let me demo the Line Pandora.

I know we're mostly lookin' for STUFF here, but just an FYI, TGR "Under the Influence" premieres are on our heels. Kickoff premiere @ Jackson is Friday 9/20 and the Park City, UT premiere is 9/26 (yay! I'm going to both!). Nationwide tour dates are up on tetongravity.com

I know that some areas had really slowww spring sales due to weather, high water, etc. These areas may be later bringing in there winter lines to compensate for this. Lots of spring summer gear still closing out in these areas. I don't know why the manufacturers are slow to bat though.

I have seen quite a few 2009 models out, and skiwear out. I called around my local shops yesterday to see when everything would be fully stocked, and they said Halloween....which is okay, we dont get snow until december, sometimes january!

See, that works great for you but for me, I'll be skiing by then most likely. What irritates me is that the websites aren't even updated!

I was into MEC in Toronto on the weekend. They had lots of jackets, fleece etc, but no equipment at all. Our local store is selling off last years stuff at deep discounts to make room for new. He'll start the new stuff about our Thanksgiving - middle of October. Ski show in Toronto is October 16-19th at the Better Living Centre at the CNE. Big swap there too. And my Ski Canada mag finally came today. One thing I do like at about Ski Canada is they take the time to list every ski by every manufacturer that distributes in Canada. Therefore if you see a ski by a manufacturer and aren't sure about it, the general listing will at least tell you where in the line up it falls. Sportchek is notorious for using a model name with a slight variation. Like adding an X or S or one number off a manufacturer's model number for their deck skis.
As for their "ski test", well they only published the all mountain skis this month. It will take 4 issues to get the full test!

As far as skis go, www.o2gearshop.com has the new line up out, and k2's website is set to go, I'm just amazed that Volkl hasn't even updated their website yet, considering vendors are selling their products already for the 2009 season.

Our local shop didn't have anything out yet, although they took me in the back and I saw a few isolated items such as the '09 K2 One Luv. For economic reasons, it sounds like they aren't ordering a huge variety to begin with, and will tailor their stock to what people seem to be requesting (aside from the usual begginer stuff....I guess they figure low level skiers don't know enough to have preferences!!). There are a few 08's and even '07's hanging around, but my own interests are shifting from possible K2 (I was considering the Burnin' Luv, not so sure now). Some new reviews I read have me interested in Blizzards, but I never see those around here!

I've heard from a few retailers that ski manufacturers are making fewer skis this year because of the economy, so stock will sell more quickly and there will be fewer end-of-season sales.... I've been toying with the idea of getting my daughter's next pair of skis now because there's a specific pair that I want for her and I don't want it to sell out....
