Does anyone know of or have experience with Surefit Boots? I live in CT and I am going to Breckenridge Feb. 24, 2007...
In desperate need of new boots! Can anyone help?
Thank You, Peanut

I actually got my boots from Surefoot in Keystone a few years ago, and was very satisfied with the results. They spent a lot of time with the fitting process and tweaked things during the week I was there til everything was right. When I got back to Vermont, any issues I had were easily resolved by going to the Surefoot closest to me, in Killington. In fact, I was just there last week for some additional work.

Some people complain that Surefoot is expensive, and maybe they are. But I thought they did a great job, so to me, it was worth it.

I don't have any experience with Surefoot fittings so take my comments with a grain of salt.

First of all, I don't like the fact that the boots have "Surefoot" in big letters across the boot.

Secondly, my Women's Wed. ski clinic had a boot fitting session at the Surefoot store at Copper Mtn and the presenter was very general, didn't tell me anything I didn't already know.

So, I wasn't impressed with Surefoot, I have my fiitings done by Outdoor Divas in Denver and have been very, very happy.

However, you do need to be in a place where you can ski the boots for few days then can go back to if you have issues.

I don't know if Surefoot carries every brand of boot and there are quite a few shops in Breck. Maybe you can try them all and find the best fitting boots then if you have problems find a good bootfitter?

I realize that you're just passing through but if your going to have any time in Denver, check with Outdoor Divas, they are very knowledgable and may be able to help you over the phone.

Last year I had a client who was skiing in Surefit boots--but they were a very stiff Atomic and she could not flex them well. I sent her to our local bootfitter, but he could not do too much with them either--and she complained that she had a hard time getting them on and off.

She called Surefoot and then was able to visit a store in Vermonth this summer. They were really very responsive to her and offered to either give her new boots or work with the old one. She choose to keep her boots because of fit issues. They managed to make the boots work--she now flexes her boots and is able to ski much better.

I was very impressed with the responsivenes of the company and their offer to replace the boots if necessary. They did cost $1000 which was pretty steep, but my client is very happy with both the fit and the performance of the boots now.

Personally, since I ski 125 to 140 days per year, I would be reluctant to pay this much for boots since I ski them out and replace my boots every year---but, I still am impressed with the company policy of making sure the boots will fit.

Wow! That's a lot of money. As I said before, I have Surefoot boots, and I didn't spend anywhere near that much. It must depend on the boots you get. Still, it was a few years ago, so who knows.......

Thank you for your responses ladies. I heard the surefit boots were expensive, but not $1000.00! I have been refered to Alpine Haus in Whethersfield, CT. I am going today to be fit for boots, then I plan to ski a couple of days in VT to hopefully work out any problems.
Thank you Little Lightning for the recommendation to Outdoor Divas. I will let you know how I make out.
Thank You Again for your input!!!

$1000!!! Are you kidding??? My experiences with Surefoot have been less than good, the guys I ski with are pretty down on them for various reasons, and I disagree with their apparent premise of boot fitting (achieve comfort by selling a shell that is too big then filling it with fluff), but charging $1000 clinches it for me. They'll not have me for a customer! I'll stick with the locals I trust (Starting Gate @ Stratton, Northern Ski Works @ Killington, and Mountainside Ski Service @ Sugarbush)--they guarantee their products and the fit, charge reasonable prices always under MSRP, and would never send me out the door dissatisfied or in pain.
