Supported bike tours?

Are you looking for rides that go across entire states? I know there's the Pan Mass Challenge, in Massachusetts. And there's one that goes across Kansas, too, which would be kind of cool since it's entirely flat.

As for bike tours, there are a number of touring operators here in Vermont. I see them all the time on the roads. Here's one.

I've done a few bike trips with a couple of tour companies. All of them a few years ago. Probably the coolest one was a trip offered by Backroads. It was a 10 day road bike trip through Bryce, Zion and the Grand Canyon. It was a camping trip so they carried all of your gear and did all of the cooking. Great food! I also did a Moab/Canyonlands mt bike tour with them, also camping. Another company, Escape Adventures, based in Las Vegas, offers some neat trips. I've done a couple of their mt biking trips. One was through Escalante and another in New Mexico. I haven't been to Taos to ski yet, but that's on the list.

Definitley glad I did these trips when the body was younger. I really don't think I could now ride that hard all day and then sleep on rocks at night, only to get up and do it all over again the next day, and the next day! I think for my next trip I'll opt for the luxurious inn at night! It is nice to only think about riding and let the tour company handle everything else.

Here's a list of the ones I've done, all good rides, a variety of terrain, mostly good experiences, some better run than others. We camped for all of them except for 1 TRIRI.
"Ride the Rockies" here in Co.,
"Candisc" Cycling Around N. Dakota in Sakakawea Country
"TriRi" Touring Ride in Rural Indiana. I love this tour, participated 5 times. Also my introduction to week long bike touring.
"Bike Virginia"
"Cycle North Carolina"
"CAM" Cycling Around Maryland
"Light House Tour" in foggy Novia Scotia
"Moosa Tour" Maine into Canada
"Brat" Bicycle Ride Across Tennessee

Ride the Rockies is fabulous! It is adult summer camp. Very fun, well organized and usually some hard rides.

I'm more or less what they call "hardcore" rider and most of my buddies are such. So, take what they say with a grain of salt. (I haven't done any myself)

According to my hard core rider friends, CycleOregon is THE BEST bike tour, bar none!

What I gather from their report, is the ride combines a mixed terrain and variety of scenaries. So it manages to please most of anyone. Anyone who wants to ride hard, that is.

Here's one of the more colorful description: "One day, we start climbing this gradual grade, which tops out only at the bottom of a steeper climb. When we top out at the top of the second climb, we were at the bottom of a third pretty steep climb. Just when we thought it couldn't get any steeper, we found ourselves at the bottom of yet another even steeper climb. After the third or fourth one, I lost count of how many "steps" were on that serie of stair-step climbs!"

She would do it again in a heart beat!?

Why?

Well, what goes up must come down!!!
