Sunshine Village/ April 11th

Yes, myself and my devoted ski partner (daughter-age 9) hit the slopes of Sunshine Village yesterday. There were excellent spring skiing conditions, getting a bit icy in some spots. None the less, it was a wonderful day. We skied a bit on the runs around the main lodge, but most of our day was spent on Goat's Eye. The runs on this particular part of the mountain are blue and black. My daughter is a great little skier, going after mostly bump and mogul runs. I would get a bit ahead of her when we were approaching the bump runs, then of course, Mom had to slow down and take it one mogul at a time while little "short legs with short skis" could go over bump after bump and make turns whenever she decided to.
We hope to get in a couple more ski days before the end of the season.
I am waiting patiently for my new skis to arrive (shorter than my old ones), hopefully they will make a difference on the mogul runs.
I have had many fun ski days this yr, but yesterday was awesome because I watched my daughter navigate some really tough terrain.
I love this sport !

I'm glad to hear that you and your daughter had a great time! I really liked Sunshine, and Goat's Eye mountain in particular. If I recall, there is a trail over there between two very large rocks called 'Clevage', but I never skied that run. I also liked that from Goat's Eye you could ski under the gondola all the way back to your car. That was fun!

Wish I coulda been there, and it sounds as though your daughter is a fabulous skier already!

Yes the little kid can really ski. She had one wipe out that she wasn't too pleased about, but had a fun day. She has no idea how good of a skier she is.... I really have to pull her away to get her out on the hill, but once she gets there she loves it.
I enjoy the ski out to the parking lot at Sunshine. It was getting kind of bare in spots so we took the gondola back down.
The run that you are talking about must be a pretty extreme run,
"Clevage" must be a more difficult run? My 16 yr old son has been down Delirium Dive, on Goat's Eye. He was with some very experienced skiers who looked out for his best interests!
I think it would be fun to have a "Diva" day at Sunshine Village!!

A Diva day at sunshine! What an idea. I skied Sunshine with my daughter (Lola) and remember it as a wonderful experience. One I would love to repeat.

OOps kinda repeated myself in the last post, as I got interrupted by my son....I was using his computer and he needed it while I was typing.
A Diva day at Sunshine would be awesome! So take this as your notice....you all have lots of time to think about it and throw some dates out there as to when ....
I think that is great that you would come all the way out here to ski...glad you enjoyed it. So when was it that you were here? Did you stay in Banff ?

Count me in for Diva day at Sunshine. Any excuse to go back there!!!

We love Goat's Eye, too. It has such a different feel that the wide open spaces of "Lookout." It really adds to the variety of the mountain.

Conditions stay good late in the season, so maybe we could have our gathering in the spring?.....

That would be great, Diva gathering in the spring ! For me, anytime would be alright ! I have to drive for an hour and 20 minutes to get there. I am fortunate to have the mountains so close to ski. Getting on a plane to travel and go skiing would take much money and time. I appreciate that the Diva's out there are prepared to travel long distances for skiing adventures !
Yes, Goat's Eye is very different, and the scenery across the valley is spectacular. When my daughter and I went the weather was great and the sun was warm, made for a memorable day!
