Summer Movies.

None of the summer movies look especially good to me this year. Anyone see anything they think is worthwhile?

Just saw (rented) Notes on a Scandal last night, with Judi Dench and Cate Blanchette, and thought it was terrific. Highly recommend.

Mm, I'm not sure it is available in the 'burbs, because it's a German movie. It's called "Life of the Others". If it's showing anywhere near you, run, don't walk, to it.

And if you're the "touche" sensitive type, bring a couple of tissues with you (no, it's NOT a sad movie, just powerfully moving that it may bring tears to your eyes without your realizing it, in more than a few occasions).

I am usually a movie junky but I have not had time this summer to go to the theater. I will post if I watch a movie that I think is Oscar material.

I've seen the blockbusters so far: Spiderman 3, Pirates, all were fun, not really that great, but they were both etertaining.

Other than that, nothing looks incredibly interesting to me.

Well, I will go see Harry Potter, I just can't stay away.

La Vie en Rose is an amazing biopic about Edith Piaf's life. I'm also looking forward to seeing Mighty Heart, Sicko and Hairspray.

I rented a lot of great movies lately: Stranger than Fiction, The Good Shepard, The Holiday, and Music and Lyrics were all entertaining. I also saw Pirates and Spiderman 3 and enjoyed both. I also heard great things about Knocked Up and am hoping to see that soon!

I thought Knocked Up was pretty hysterical. If you liked The 40-yo Virgin you'd enjoy Knocked Up, too -- it's the same kind of humor.

I'm attending my bi-monthly "HUNKFEST" (aka...movie night) with the girls tonight! We are going to see "Ocean's 13" and "Pirates of the Caribbean"....OMG! Then...we are going to have to go have a drink! :D

Meanwhile....my hunk is attending the Rockies vs. the Yankees Game! I get to go tomorrow!!! I love the summer!

I agee Knocked Up was pretty funny. I've never been heard the audience laugh so many times during a movie.

Just got back from seeing "Ratatouille." I'm a sucker for those Pixar movies (Toy Story, Monsters Inc., etc.), and this one was no disappointment. Beautifully animated and loads of fun. There's an animated short, too, called "Lifted," which was absolutely hysterical. Highly recommend.

Just wanted to let you ladies know that "Ocean's 13" is fabulous! I really LOVE these Ocean's movies! They are great fun!!!

I'm interested in seeing Transformers, but can't get anyone to go with me.
I guess I'll wait til its on DVD.

Knocked up is something I'll be able to get some girls to go see with me. Looking forward to that.
I really haven't seen a lot of movies, but see most of the animated ones with my girlfriends kids. I love them!!
My favourite all time Animated was Over the Hedge. Wanda Sykes as the skunk is a classic!!!

I loved Over the Hedge and also Madagascar. We recently saw the new Bruce Willis movie....I might not have picked it out on my own (it's more my husband's taste but I've adapted). It's ok; definitely lots of action. We plan to see Transformers, the Harry Potter movie when it comes out, definitely Oceans 13.

Transformers was great. I love transformers, and usually find that movie adaptations are kind of lame for people who are into the original, so went in with low expectations, but left beyond satisfied. Awesome transitions and fight scenes.

Some great movies have been mentioned in this thread so far, Notes on a Scandal, Monsters Inc, and Stranger Than Fiction were all great in different ways.

I haven't made it out to Ratatouille yet, been waiting for a my free time to line up with my three year old niece's, but it looks great.

I went to see Evan Almighty last night and it was fun !!
There are a few movies that I want to see .... Ratatouille for one, as I also love the Disney Pixar movies. Having kids gives me a great excuse for going to all those movies !

So far I've seen Pirates (long), Oceans (fun, great dialogue between Clooney and Pitt), and Live Free or Die Hard. For me, Die Hard was the most fun, but I grew up watching these action movies. I seriously think I've seen every Die Hard movie in a first-run theater.

My husband and I saw "Sicko" last week. Not exactly a fun movie, but worth seeing nonetheless.

Hubby has been off work since February due to back injury/surgery, so I've missed every single movie I wanted to see this year until Die Hard.

Good: Action packed. He for once doesn't smoke or drink.
Bad: He stays fully clothed in this one  . Isn't skin half the reason we go to see him?????:D

(We bought Over the Hedge at a garage sale for $5, Hilarious!!!!!!)

I really liked Ocean 13. Not as good as the first one but better than the second one.

I really want to see Knocked Up. Just need to convince the boyfriend ;)
