If you were considering Holiday Valley, you could think about Bristol Mountain. It is also in Western New York and has 1200' of vertical. There are condos available for rent at the base of the mountain. If you are looking for a romantic weekend, you could check out the ski and stay packages at Bristol Harbour (great food and an Adirondack decor).
Bristol is my home mountain, but Whiteface is definately a great place to go (that's where we have gone for a couple of ski vacations).
