Stratton AAMP Program and Tremblant Blues

Hi all! Hope your seasons are going well. I signed up for Strattons adult seasonal program this year (highly recommend! Lessons sat and sun thru March - excellent instructors) and learned to get much more comfortable on blue Terrain! Heading up to Tremblant this weekend and eager to
go beyond the 3 long greens i always lap. Which would you say are the 3-5 “easiest” blues to start exploring? Would love your input! Also happy to answer questions about AAMP! (Adult all-mountain performance)

I echo what Jenny said… Jilly and SkiBam can help with specifics. I’m just chiming in to say that if you like Stratton, you’ll love Tremblant! Enjoy!

I'm heading up Saturday to pick up my stuff to go to Mont Ste Anne on Sunday. So not skiing Saturday.
Intermediate runs:

North side - Beauchemin, Lowell Thomas, and really Devil's River (they call it black, but it's a light black)
South side - Beauvallon, Dernier Cri, Alpine/Roger McCarthy
Soliel - Toboggan

And the greens can be fun too. Nansen has a blue pitch, if the racers haven't taken it over

Also during New Year's they were marking some of the blue trails as expert only. That was because of the conditions, so they were trying to keep the bord beginners off of them.

If SkiBam and I were there, I'm sure you would like "Rods Run". But not many people know the way.

I can meet you for apres?

Thank you! Yes we have been to Tremblant many times and i love the greens there. I know Nansen very well. @Jilly you and i actually skied together with my daughter a few years ago! We will be there with 3 other families to celebrate my daughters Bday and i will be taking the kids to the ceramics place and for dinner after ski on sat. What time did you have in mind? But i think I can be free from about 2:30-4PM this Sunday. Sounds like you wont be there that day though? How are conditions at Tremblant? Its been super icy at Stratton and im hoping for real snow and smoother turns.

Sorry, Sunday I'm on my way to Ste Anne. I've got a 4 day clinic there.

Tremblant's been getting some snow. But also some warm weather.

I'm driving up Saturday. But don't know what time I'll get there. It's a 4 1/2 hr drive on a good day. That's why I was thinking apres, but didn't know if you had the kids too.

I need to be on the road early Sunday to get to MSA. I have tickets to pick up Sunday etc. for this clinic.

A run I always like (it might be rated as black in some places but it's not bad -maybe @Jilly can confirm) is off the Flying Mile chair. Turn left, don't go down Ligne de Pentes (though that's a nice run too, but a black), but go to the next run over, through a gate into a snow park. (Now, I haven't done this this year, so instructions could be not up to date.)

There are jumps, over which you need not go (I never do), but this is a lovely long run. Part way down you come to a fence, so slow down here but continue right. More lovely rolling skiing. You end up coming out on the main run under the Flying Mile chair. I'm ashamed to admit I don't know the run's name. I find any of the snow parks (keep to the side, away from the jumps - watch for jumpers) to generally be less icy than the main runs.

In this vein, Sissy Schuss (off the Expo chair) is green, but fun. I sometimes think I could ski all day just off the Expo chair - runs go from easy to double black. And there are bumps and glades if you want them. There are also lots of nice runs off the Lowell Thomas chair, though the bottom section before the lift is steeper. If you study the map, you can see a cut-through to the Duncan. The bottom of Duncan, also Devil's River can be very nice - I think they're blacks not not very steep ones. A lot will depend on conditions when you're there.

Have fun. @Jilly, correct me if I'm wrong on any of these.

So on that side you also have fuddle duddle and duncan bas which are blue. Are those alright? My point of comparison are the lower mountain blues at Stratton which i am now comfortable with.

Fuddle duddle is bumps 101. So unless they've groomed it, it's ice bumps with no enough slope to the hill. You can get to Duncan bas, using Vanier, but it could be tricky getting down.

We are expect major snow tomorrow till later Thursday. Hope you're driving Friday!

Cure deslaurier, which I was mistaking for Denier Cri.

@Jilly - is Vanier to Duncan Bas tricky bec of pitch? Or something else? And yes we drive friday evening. Hopefully the roads are clear by then.

Pitch, narrow, bumps/ice in between. First thing in the morning would be good. But it's short. Like it can be done with 5 turns.

Just circling back on this thread! Thanks for all the tips! The kids LOVED sissy shuss. I think they did it 10 times. At the detriment of my trying other new trails. :p i did like the blue part of Nansen and was able to try toboggan which i would say is at the edge of my comfort zone with the 4-5 steeper headwall sections - i had to sideslip down a couple of them. Especially the last pitch coming back to the base. But was super happy to be able to try those new runs!
