Strange Boot/Binding Attachment???

NannyMin

Banned
When I was skiing at Okemo a few weeks, Ski Diva pointed out a skier that had an odd attachment to his boots and/or bindings. I'm not even sure how to describe it, but, it was something that stuck up above his boots vertically. We assumed it was to keep him out of the backseat. Ski Diva tried to ask him what it was, but he did not respond.

Anyone heard of anything like this?

Did it have a curve that "hooked" around to the front of his shin? And was he on old straight skis??

OMG, that thing is nasty!! Not what I was thinking if that's it. Back in the 80's there was a boot/binding apparatus that had an arm that went up from the back of boot and curved around the leg just below the knee. I think it lasted about 2 years. Can't remember the manufacturer.

There's another kind of thing that doesn't have a pole but just a cable coming up that I've seen but I can't locate that one online.

Well his pics aren't coming up, but I was working through things and did come up with neva, so nava should be it. I remember thinking "really weird" and how can that be safe!

Hard to say for sure whether it's the same thing without seeing the pics, but it sounds about right. Really an odd set up, though.

Wasn't that CAD thing though, Robyn. That's crazy!!!

Caught one of Philpug video's when I googled nava. That's the "device" I was thinking of. Can't believe he mounted them on a pair of Volants. "no tip pressure" he says!!

scary old stuff! I remember the Spademan bindings, I hated those things because my mom slipped and fell with them once.
