We had an awesome day at Stowe. We arrived around 8am on Friday. Parked near gondola (wasn’t open til 9) and made it to the quad with a lot of effort. Lifts ran well. The snow was great. There were a lot of complaints about crowds from people but we managed to ski nonstop all day without much waiting. Gondola singles line ran super fast even though it looked intimidating. Rode together every time anyway. We went to the Spruce Peak side for lunch. It was a whole other world over there. I can’t believe they charge us non-epic folks 20% more! The food was great. We got stuck for 25 minutes on the triple and that sort of ended our day around 3. It’s probably not my favorite mountain but we really enjoyed our day and would definitely go back.
We stopped at mountain ops to rent touring gear on our way back to our Airbnb. Rental was easy and staff was super helpful. Next morning we were at Nebraska notch for skinning and a few laps. The snow was heavy as it was nearly 40 degrees. We weren’t in it for the snow, we just to learn more about the gear needed. I loved every minute. I could definitely see myself getting used to the backcountry.
