I went to Squaw Valley this past weekend for my last trip of the season. One of my friends has a condo there with her DH so I've been going there all season.
While most Tahoe resorts will be closing this month, Squaw is planning to stay open until May 11. The snow was pretty nice for this time of year (in spite of temps in the 50s/60s) but rocks and dirt are showing through in many areas. Unfortunately, I skied right over a rock on one run. For those familiar with Squaw, Sunday was the last day for Red Dog and April 27 will be the last day for KT-22. I heard that Mammoth Mtn. plans to stay open until early June. I guess that's the place to be in Calif.!
But enough about that. I'm excited to report that my friend convinced me to go down the face of Headwall for the first time. I probably had no business going down it, but I made it down without hurting myself! It's an expert run with deep moguls at the steepest part (note: moguls are not my best thing, especially when having to do them under the liftline for all to see!). Next season I'll definitely take a lesson or two!
