Getting old can be (is?) a pain, but it beats the alternative, Sorry to hear you're experiencing pain and hope the shots help.

@ski diva Sorry to hear as well! My grandmother had spinal stenosis in her later years, though not diagnosed until her mid-late 70s. Unfortunately, she put off the surgery and when she was finally ready to concede that it was probably her only option, she had many other age-related issues that caused a variety of complications. So, I don't have anything helpful to add, but hope that you are able to get some relief sooner rather than later!

I wish I had something more helpful to say than just that I too am sorry you are going through this. I have several friends who are experiencing similar issues. Chronic pain is unfortunately so common but sometimes under diagnosed and poorly managed. Hoping that you can find some relief soon!

Ouch, this sounds pretty awful. May the shots provide relief. There is an excellent physiatrist practice in Northampton MA that I can refer you too, not sure if you will find a long wait list....

So sorry to hear this. I hope you find some relief soon. Chronic pain is no fun.
My brother has spinal stenosis. He does periodic PT sessions depending on the pain and stretching exercises. I believe he has had some injections but not sure what. He is not terribly active. Originally he was diagnosed with arthritis in his hips as that was were the pain was.
I have another friend who also has spinal stenosis. She also does the PT sessions and stretching along with swimming and acupuncture.

Well, I had the injection on Tuesday. Today is Thursday, and as of yet, no relief. They did say it might take as long as 2 weeks to take effect, so here's hoping.

If this fails, I'll try another shot in a few months.

Yes you may need more than one epidural..... don't give up yet.

I'm glad you were able to ski with this diagnosis. It can be debilitating for sure.

As of now, it’s really no better. It hasn’t been a week yet, though, so I’m still hoping it’ll kick in. If not, I may have to get a second shot in a few months. And I’m open to trying acupuncture — or anything else, for that matter. I’m really hoping this doesn’t lead to surgery, which is a possibility.

This whole thing is very disturbing. I’m usually so active, and frankly, I’m worried about the long term.
