Ouch! I did this once, during El Tour de Tucson (a 100+ mile event) at mile 30. I still have a huge scar on my knee as a souvenir of the event. My finish-line photo was not pretty (yes, I finished the ride in spite of the boo-boo).

You actually remembered to put your front tire on, though! I hope. :eyebrows: (Seriously, though, going over the handlebars HURTS.)

I have no idea what the original sign said, but I loved the photoshopped assertion (since it looks a bit like there's no front wheel) that you should be careful not to forget your front tire before you take off.

Yep, had the front wheel on. I agree--the "artistic" interpretation of the sign is funny. :becky:

Did the same thing cycling to work one morning. Got my front wheel jammed in a drain cover, flipped completely over with toe-clips still attached to my feet. Then i was trapped under the bike & had to be rescued by a little old lady who was waiting to cross at the lights. It was right at the front of a huge backlog of london traffic and i looked up to see about 20 motorcycle courriers all sitting there laughing at me. Nothing hurt cept my pride

Having known that sign since I was ten years old, I had completely missed what looking at it cold would look like. Having said that the black runs on the sign are fantastic on the right day. Funnily enough virgin mile is my least favourite because it is the most crowded - I always thought that it was because it is the most accessible and least technically challenging - but maybe I need to think again.

Love the book covers they are priceless
